Maidana was going to win clearly, he dominated until the referee caved in to Floyd's whining. I think Floyd won close in the end. Castillo 1 was an either way bout.

Eh...The most you could give Maidana was six rounds, so the only two outcomes were a draw and a Floyd victory. In that sense, I guess it's "either way"...But in the case of Castillo I, you could make a pretty good case that Castillo deserved a victory on the cards, even though I personally viewed it a close Floyd win. That better fits the description.

People cant score fights objectively, its almost impossible. Because a fighter does better than expected that sways peoples opinion.

What about the post you quoted allows you to reach the brilliant deduction that I must be a "Floyd groupie"?

You're not the first person to accuse me of that, in fact the irrational haters of Mayweather have been leveling that one at me for years, but ironically the real Floyd groupies have been calling me a hater for just as long. Price you pay for being the sole objective voice of reason when the inmates are running the asylum...

    1) Correct. Why should a pro boxer know how to judge a fight better than someone that has probably watched (and scored) hundreds if not thousands more fights than any pro boxer? Does being a great artist make you a great art critic automatically? No. Their job is to make art. Boxers' job is to know how to fight - and leave the scoring up to professional judges and other scoring experts. Come back with some better logic, kid.

    2) No. There is a hard limit on how many close rounds you can swing Maidana's or Castillo's way. If you give them all the swing rounds you possibly can, the best case scenario for them is a draw. That is disingenuous to say that if a draw is possible then so is a win for them. In saying that you are wrongly assuming that any of the remaining Mayweather rounds (if you score it as far in the other guy's favor as being a draw) have budge room or could be argue the other way. Not so, in either case.

    3) It really isn't that subjective, which is why experienced & insightful scorers (and judges widely seen as being competent) are more or less simpatico a majority of times. Is there variance between individual scorecards on given nights? Sure. But on a broad enough timeline most of the "good ones" stay pretty closely aligned, despite this film of vague murky "subjectivity" the know-nothings perceive scoring in boxing as being cocooned in.

Wouldn’t they actually have to have wins to debate who had a clearer win?!:afro:
