About the same probably..but Jeff's corner had the sense to pull him out this time. No doubt though Joe beat a better version of Lacy.
Similar. Joe's was his best performance, masterful exploitation of a naive, overhyped young buck. However, Roy joined together ridiculous numbers of punches... HOOKS especially (yes, we salute you, Captain) all while flipping off Lacy's corner w/o actually bringing out the birdie / actual middle-finger salute. It's close. Roy's still washed up, though, but he can still deal with anyone who isn't towards the apex of the light-heavyweight & super-middleweight food chains. He still lacks that same power of old & obviously doesn't have that same RIDICULOUS speed + fast-twitch movement of old... that ridiculous swiftness which has long since abandoned him.
And that's the better question, IMO. When Calzaghe fought Lacy, it was a meaningful fight; when RJJ fought him, it was rather pointless and certainly insignificant. :smoke
Lacy had a prime before the surgery which seemed to eliminate him power, getting rid of his only major advantage over opponents.
Calzaghe destroyed a prime Lacy, Calzaghe destroyed a shot Jones, a shot Jones destroyed a shot Lacy! = Both, but with a edge to Calzaghe
Lacy before the Calzaghe fight believed in his own hype. He actually said in an interview that the was faster (!) and more skilled than Joe. That loss must have been a lot more damaging to his psyche. After losing to Taylor and some unconcicing wins, he could not possibly have had the same confidence going into the fight with Jones. Therefore, the loss to Calzaghe was far more damaging, it ended the myth of Lacy being the next superstar. Performance - wise, both Joe and Roy did a masterful job.
