Calzaghe, since that was a better version and since that could also very easily have been stopped by the 10th round.

JC beat an undefeated champion in Lacy, whose confidence was high & thought he was unbeatable. RJJ beat a journeyman. Both beat him convincinglythough. JC gets my vote.

Lacy is the same fighter he was vs Jones as he was vs Joe. This guy is a mental midget. Dammit i love Jeff but this guy is bad. Jones took the ****. That wasnt just a beating it was complete humiliation. He hot Lacy with every shot in the book. Rapier combinations firing like a machine gun 5 and 6 at a time and every one of them was on the button.

Lacy IS NOT a journeyman. He's lost to Calzaghe Jones and Taylor. All of those 3 are legit elite boxers in this sport. Theres no shame in loosing to them but its the manner of Jeff's losses. It wasnt even close.

Calzaghe and it's even close. Lacy went in that fight with an undefeated mentality and the mentality to WIN as he was expected to yet he was the one rocked in the very first round and troubled.

What Calzaghe did that night can't be compared even if Lacy gets KO'd in the first round in his next fight. That was a brutal beating for 12 rounds, from the 5th round onwards everyone was wondering when the fight will be stopped, that's how brutal it was and the 7th round nearly ended it.

You're not giving Calzaghe credit with that comment. We all know Lacy never had good defense but it wasn't THAT bad either. Calzaghe's insane activity and punches from odd angles that got him confused/hurt/stunned everytime he had to take like 6 punch combinations in 2 seconds.

Not that bad? No it WAS bad. Prior to his fight with Joe Lacy was getting hit cleanly and often by guys like Sheika and Pemperton. Anyone who thought he had the tools to beat Joe were nuts. I hated the fight when it was made and i said Lacy was way too greeen for a guy like Joe.

Yeah but the majority(myself included) loved the fight and thought Lacy will struggle a bit early only to score the KO mid rounds against the supposedly aging Calzaghe.

His defense isn't great, that's agreed on but who landed on him the way Calzaghe did previously?, did anyone land that many times and made Lacy swing wildly and miss whenever he wanted to punch back?

Calzaghe beat a better version and got hit less in the process.

Jones put up a very impressive performance for a 40yr old. Insane athletic ability. If Jones didn't have an ego the size of China he probably would have an even better resume, cause he wouldn't have felt the need to be constantly showboating.

Look at the sheer gulf in class between the guys Jeff was facing pre Calzaghe. C'mon seriously? Vanderpool? Sheika? Pemperton? Williams? Thoe guys were solid C B level journeymen. Then he gets put in the ring with a stud like Joe? No chance. **** even Richard Grant extended Jeff. Jeff has a warriors mentality and will put it all on the line but he's got to start using his brain and what brain cells he has left. I dont want to see him get beat up like this again.

I don't want to see it either but he will most likely continue.

Calzaghe's resume wasn't that great pre Lacy anyway that's why the majority picked Lacy, I admit I didn't know much about Calzaghe's fight style and even if I did I wouldn't have thought he will be able to do the same to Lacy. You might have picked it right as I remember you did but the majority didn't.

The thing is Joe's resume was pretty average. BUT Joe has fast hands a SOLID chin and respectable power. Those are 3 great attributes in boxing that will carry you far. Jeff's power was overrated, he was not a puncher (concussive or otherwise) his chin was there but he has no D. That spelt a bad bad combination. Matter of fact Byron Mitchell is/was a better puncher than Jeff at 68. At least he can put them together.

There was a HUGE hype machine behind Jeff prior to his loss. Some even likened him to Mike Tyson??!?! Shaw did a great job making money out of him and promoting the hype machine the same as he did with Kimbo. This unfortunately put Lacy on the wrong track in this tough sport.
