    Hello,

Both Sullivan and Corbett knocked Charlie Mitchell out in 3 rounds in glove contests but from what you've read. Who do you think gave Mitchell the better beating and which is the more impressive win?

    Some facts:

Sullivan beat Mitchell on May 5, 1883
Corbett beat Mitchell on January 1, 1894
Mitchell was 22 years old and 150 pounds with Sullivan who weighed 190 pounds
Mitchell was 33 years old and 165 pounds with Corbett who weighted 184 pounds.

    Facts are from boxrec.

    What do you think?

    Thank You.

Bored, bump. Even though I answered my own question in the post.

Sullivan's weight was probably more like 205lbs, to give you some idea what Mitchell was up against.

You can debate who gave Mitchell a worse beating, but they were not fighting like for like.

Sullivan beat Mitchell in his prime, while Corbett beat an old and inactive version.

Charlie Mitchell floored Sullivan, before being stopped in 3 rounds.

Corbett complexly outclassed Mitchell and did the same job without being floored in three rounds.

I think Sullivan beat a better version of Mitchell, but Corbett beat him more conclusively.
