Ok here we go, I've only taken into account the official results, I know there were some controversial decisions against B-HOP but these have already been discussed enough in countless other threads here.

RJJs career highlights: James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Mike McCallum and Virgil Hill
other very good opponents he beat are John Ruiz (at HW!), Montell Griffin, Reggie Johnson, Clinton Woods, Tito Trinidad and Antonio Tarver (although controversial)
and a whole bunch of other good fighters like Julio Cesar Gonzalez, Jorge Fernando Castro, Thomas Tate, Tony Thornton, Merqui Sosa, Vinny Pazienza, Jorge Vaca, Derrick Harmon, Eric Harding, Thulani Malinga...
and of course a whole lot of journeymen.
He lost to Antonio Tarver (twice), Glen Johnson and Montell Griffin (very controversial DQ).

B-HOPs career highlights are wins over Tito Trinidad, Winky Wright, Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson.
Other good fighters he beat are Oscar de la Hoya, William Joppy, Syd Vanderpool, Howard Eastman, John David Jackson and Keith Holmes, the rest is mostly journeymen...
He lost highly contoversial decisions to Jermain Taylor (twice) and Joe Calzaghe, he got beat by RJJ and a certain Clinton Mitchell (?? - according to boxrec) in his first pro bout.

RJJ got criticized for not facing tough competition for most of his career, but he still has a pretty impressive record imo - and it ain't even over yet! I think that the competition he faced was better than Hopkins' - who did have some great fights but wasted much of his career fighting opponents that are not worth to write home about. It's true that RJJ clearly got beat in the fights that he lost (with the exeption of the first Griffin fight), while it can be argued that Hopkins might have deserved the nod in his close losses to Calzaghe and Jermain Taylor, but even if you included Calzaghe and Taylor into Hopkins' winning record, IMHO it still wouldn't be as impressive as RJJs record.
What are your thoughts about this?

as it stands jones but i disagree that if the taylor and calzaghe decisions went his way that it still wouldnt be as impressive i think it would make a huge difference to b-hops resume that would make him undefeated since 1993 and he would have defeated the up and coming star in taylor and taken the 0 of the star from across the pond both when 40+ and past his peak. Thats a huge difference

Jones hands down. Jones has a very good record though it could have been better which is why he gets so much criticism.

    Roy Jones Jr

Wins over Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, Virgil Hill, Clinton Woods, and John Ruiz are superior to wins over Felix Trinidad, Oscar De La Hoya, Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, and Winky Wright. Both Toney and Hopkins were elite ATGs in the respective weight class Jones fought them in.
