Marciano brings punching power strength stamina workrate awkwardness to the table..traits that will severely trouble jones.

Marciano will take a jones hook if he has too in order to land a few of his own. He took some flush Walcott and Moore punches in order to land a few. He can take jones best punch if he can take there's. Jones would get battered in the arms shoulders, Marciano might miss half of his punches but the other half will land, and do a lot of damage. Marciano will catch jones with his leaping left hook from his crouch after he bobs and weaves, while catching jones trying to lean back. Jones gets floored, gets up, Marciano pounds him down with a barrage of punches.

Marciano is e trembly underate in feinting. He did a terrific job of it, it helped negate the handspeed disadvantage.

Story of the fight Marciano WILL find Jones weak jaw

    Marciano KO 9

Hagler, Monzon, and Robinson I don't even have to go up in weight.

Wow, I see Marciano as being a horrible style matchup for Jones. Marciano would be coming all night and I dont think Jones had a thing in his ****nal to discourage him. It might take Marciano a while to catch up to him but hes wear Jones down and eventually run him out of the ring. Im very confident in picking Marciano by mid to late round stoppage.

You have them beating the 190-lb Roy who fought Ruiz? Love Hagler but I don't think he has a chance. Monzon's too slow. Sugar Ray had some struggles with middleweights who Roy would have humilated...hard to see him fighting Roy at 190.

Forget the Jones that fought Ruiz, how about the 172lb version that fought Sosa.

Leon in the 1st Ali fight was inspired, his pressure might surprise Jones whose record at the higher weights is pretty ordinary imo.

    Nobody.

Name whoever you want, but Roy - and I mean Roy on his VERY best day - would outclass all of them.

He really was something different and special in his day.

I find this one hard to call, because he can theoretically beat anybody, or loose to anybody. I suspect that he always knew that he had durability issues, and that this influenced his choice of opposition. Indeed I can't see any other plausible reason for his reluctance to fight the other top names of his era.

    Not in the least.

Think Hagler / Leonard, then magnify it 20 times. Lots and lots of eye catching flurries of blisteringly fast arm punches then gone. It would be the same for anyone on any of these lists.

The gulf in speed and athleticism between Jones and his opponents at 160 and 68 was there but not unattainable, however when he went to 75 it was astronomical. He seemed to be able to punch them at will, but they in the MAIN couldn't get anywhere near him.

The only person I would give a chance of beating him would be a 175 version of the Welterweight Leonard, in an incredibly boring fight with both guys trying to draw the other one into making a mistake.

Oh, and the crowd slow hand clapping after the 3rd round.

As I said in the original post Marciano would be the easiest to beat out of those named because athleticism was alien to him. And Jones at 175 had that combined with incredible speed in spades.

The most remarkable thing regarding Jones in my book is how the fuk did he manage to boil down to 160 in the first place, because he looked exceptionally good at 75. We are after all talking h2h here, because if it comes to resume's Jones isn't fit to lace Archie, or Ezzard Charles's boots.

Jones was quick but he could not take a punch. So the question is would a huge puncher get in that one heavy blow over the distance. Hwts such as Marciano would get the job done.

    Funny you should mention that.

I wonder how all these 190 guys would get on when a huge punching 240+ guy landed that one heavy shot against them.

Hmmm, now let me think. Big George, Vlad, and Lewis spring to mind.:roll:

And before you waffle on about Jones lack of power, anyone who can crack 3 or 4 of Virgil Hills ribs with one shot, hits hard enough to keep even Marciano honest.

Weight is important at lower weights where 5 pounds can be an advantage. At hwt a much different story. I know this because I know boxing technically. You don't because you are Foxy.

And you are full of sh it Kerry. Jones weighed a hell of a lot nearer 190 by fight time than he did 175, which is all he would need to weigh to beat these guys.

Now haven't you got any housework to do like all the other old women?

Off you go and iron a real mans shirt for him. Fool.
