Yeah the Roy who fought a near-dead Toney, lightweight Paz or shot to bits Thornton/Sosa. A Hill 10 years past his best, a Reggie 10 years past his best.... how about being SCHOOLED by Montell Griffin, outboxed by Eric Harding, dropped heavily by Lou Del Valle, or looking very mediocre against a very basic walk-in-straight-lines, throw right hand-version of Hopkins.

So what you're saying is that Chris Eubank beats him?

This has been done to death. The whole 'reluctant Roy' tag was nothing but a myth.

Efforts were made to fight Liles, DM, Hopkins II, and Holyfield among others.

Probably a decent number but I suspect most or all would have to be pretty great fighters.. ie, Rocky Marciano, Michael Spinks, Evander Holyfield, etc, etc..

He magically managed to miss the toughest challenges - Lamar Parks, Tim Littles, Julian Jackson, Gerald McClellan, Michael Nunn :yep

    Yet more nonsense from you.

How the hell was Roy schooled by Griffin? Is your definition of schooling someone, having some success and frustrating them for a period?

Griffin was a good fighter and he did well against Roy. But he was on the verge of getting knocked out in the first fight, and was then taken out in the rematch.

Was it Roy's fault that Hill and Reggie were past their peak? What was he supposed to do?

He looked mediocre against a basic Hopkins?

    Dear me.

People don't rate Chris as the best ever, as pretty much everybody did Roy (pre-Tarver). Eubank remains the most criticised boxer there's ever been.

Fight Michalczewski and Rocchigiani, that's what he was supposed to do. Genuine challenges.

Griffin got rid of Futch for the rematch, or would've probably beaten Roy yet again.

Nothing magical at all, just circumstances.

Why on earth do you keep mentioning Parks? He retired in 1993.

Roy fought James Toney after he'd just knocked out Littles. Roy also tried to fight Liles who'd beaten Nunn and who'd won and lost against Littles.

Gerald remained at MW when Roy moved up to SMW, and then he fought Benn in their tragic fight.

Nunn at LHW was swerved to try and fight Holyfield at HW. When Holyfield turned him down, he signed to fight Buster Douglas before he pulled the plug at the last moment on his father's advice. He then fought Hill at a catchweight for twice the amount that a Nunn fight would have brought.

There are always valid reasons why fights don't get made. It's not always because a fighter is fearful.

Dariusz wouldn't go the U.S. and Roy wouldn't go to Germany.

    How many more times?

Only a fool would celebrate Griffin's win over Roy. He didn't really beat him, it was just a technicality. And now you're saying Roy wouldn't have taken him out if Futch had been there? Do me a favour.

Was Tarver not a genuine challenge at LHW? Was he not as good as, or better than Roch?

You're so biased. HBO didn't even want a Roch fight at one point.

Yeah because Holyfield, Douglas and Hill really stood a chance of beating Roy Jones  Nunn would've taken him to the cleaners.

Since when did Parks retire in 1993? Was this some magical occurence that nobody heard about? The much-hyped McClellan-Parks fight was signed and sealed in 1994. Parks would've taken Jones out, probably the heaviest hitting combo banger in history at middleweight, that I've seen.

McClellan already announced his arrival on the SMW scene prior to Jones facing Toney.

No he wasn't. Roch had been robbed blind over Maske twice and Michalczewski, far superior fighters to Tarver.
