Why didn't those brick like gloves allow sheriff Bob to knock out Doug Jones then? Don't bother claiming it was because Jones was a heavyweight because there was only 12 pounds difference between them, and Bob did KO heavier guys than that, but of a much lower calibre.

I don't think anyone on this board, including even you, is stupid enough to deny Jones Jr was of the highest calibre.

You've changed your tune of Jones lately.

You're only looking from Nunn's perspective.

Roy without doubt didn't want to fight Nunn at LHW. But I don't buy the theory that he feared losing to him. I think it was a risky fight for low money, and he went with better options. But I think if Nunn had've brought more money or a title etc, he'd have taken it. Again, surely fighting Evander (it it'd have come off) was more dangerous than fighting a 1998 version of Nunn?

Spinks, Foster, Charles, Moore, Saad Muhammad, Marvin Johnson, and Carlos Monzon. Probably Hagler too.

It's a great question, but how specific do you want to be?

Roy at his absolute peak, was when he fought at SMW, when he was 25/26, in 1994/1995. I think most people will agree with that. That means that he weighed in at 168 pounds, and had a fight night weight of around 175 pounds. So that rules out a few great MW fighters in my opinion.

Marvin Hagler was a great MW. And if you asked me who would have won between them both at MW, I could give an honest opinion. But if you asked me who would have won between Marvin and Roy, when both fighters were at their absolute peak, then you'd be pitting Marvin against a 175 pound version of Roy. So I don't want to be pedantic, but are we looking at versions of Roy from 93-2003, or are we specifically looking at his absolute prime that was in 94/95?

    Yawn.

Don't you think it's ironic that you keep showing up in threads about Roy, to tell me that I'm always talking about him?

Either engage me in a proper debate, or ignore me.

But just remember that you've made more threads about him than I have, despite the fact that I've made over 7,000 posts more than you.

    :hi:

Physically dangerous to his health if Vander landed a punch, sure. To his record, no, because Nunn was all wrong for Jones, and I have very little doubt would've outpointed him comfortably.

    Young Terror,

    No.

I have honestly never seen you have a proper debate with anyone. Which is a shame.

I didn't make any posts in one of those threads.

But in the other two, you bizarrely pretended to be a big fan of his, before trashing him.

    It's you who's got issues.

Again, either engage me, or ignore me.

You think a 35 year old faded Nunn, would have comfortably beaten Roy on points, and presented a bigger challenge to him than fighting a 1998 version of Evander Holyfield?

    Bizarre.

Bizarre?? A 1998 version of Evander Holyfield was a complete shadow of the 1988 version. Nunn was less shot than that. Don't get me wrong, Nunn in '88 was the best boxer on the planet, but he still had most of those attributes in '98 (just wouldn't train or focus like before, something only a Jones fight would bring back).
