He will NEVER be mentioned along those lines @ 140. Maybe H2H hypothetically, but theonly way to compare fighters in different era but the same weight is to look at their resume's at that weight and accomplishments. Floyd didn't do enough @ 140, plain and simple.
Not when it comes to accomplishments, no. And I put that before skills when it comes to rating all-time greats in each division. He wasn't at 140lbs long enough to be rightfully inside the top 5 ever, probably top 10. Sweet Pea would also concede that Whitaker is pretty much on the same boat at 140lbs.
How can Floyd rank as the best ever at 140 after beating Gatti, Corley, and Bruseles? And with guys like Whitaker, Chavez, Pryor, Benitez, De La Hoya, Napoles, etc there in head to head terms.
You're pretty much talking out of your ass in the first half of this post, you at least made some good points in the second half. Everyone mentions how Corely hurt Floyd in that fight, but then they fail to mention how Floyd dominated and won that round despite being hurt. This is boxing, everyone is going to get stunned. It's amazing how little that's actually happened to Floyd. The fact of the matter is, Floyd was the total package at 130,135, and 140. However, he was at his physical prime when he was at 140, he was also more experienced and smarter at 140 than at 135, and 140. Ergo, Floyd was arguably at his best when he fought at 140.
H2H, the following I either favor or have even money at 140: Whitaker Pryor Armstrong Duran Chavez Napoles Loi Ortiz Benitez De La Hoya
