Pryor 50-50, Duran 60-40 fav, Chavez 30-70 favouring PBF, Pea 40-60 favouring PBF, Kostya 40-60 favouring PBF. Its very hard to beat someone like PBF, a guy whos not only very talented but very smart in the ring and so adaptable. Reminds me of Ali, a guy who had all the talent in the world and somehow always just found a way to win by adapting to his opponent. In Judah, Castillo, ODLH, Hatton, I think all fights were close enough so that either one could have won but it was PBF who made the right adjustments once he figured them out and goes on to win the rest of the rounds clearly.
Chavez, Taylor, Mc Girt, Arguello, Whitaker and Pryor would have a chance. Not sure if they'd win or not.
Duran - had something Hatton doesn't, head movement and extremely underrated boxing skills. Hearns - if he could have dropped 7lbs he's outbox Floyd who would go into defensive mode after tasting a monster right hand. I'd also see him going down a few times. At 147 it would be more of the same, probably a stoppage late on. Mosley - quicker than Floyd in his day and imo more powerful at 140. Floyd has a better defense, but Shane's offense and energy would be too much. ODLH - 50/50 one this imo. Leonard - he fought welterweight, but he did come in under the limit a lot, so I dont see why he would have had a problem making 140 in his day. As for PBF he'd be too much offensively, has better footwork and just as fast hand speed. To be honest there's not many fighters I can see beating Floyd at 140...
Julio Cesar Chavez, Aaron Pryor and Kostya Tszyu: the all time greats. Probably also Henry Armstrong, and Oscar de la Hoya.
I think that there are several fighters who could... but right off the bat, I don't see any way that Floyd could have beaten Oscar at 140. Just a machine.
This is a tough question. Floyd only fought 3 fights at 140. However, he was amazing in those three fights. He showed a good chin, great speed, great defense, great combination punching, really good bodywork, great speed, and great footwork. Basically, he really didn't show any weaknesses at 140. Floyd accomplished the most at 130, but he might have been at his best when he fought at 140. There's good reason Hatton and Cotto wanted no parts of Floyd at 140, they knew they had no shot. I remember after the Bruselles fight, Floyd said he would go up to WW and fight Mosely or DLH. Roy Jones Jr. remarked that neither Mosely or DLH should take the fight. Quite simply put, Floyd was the total package at 140. I'm pretty sure you could name some ATG's who would have a shot at beating Lil Floyd at this weight, but there isn't 1 fighter that I would confidently pick to beat him at 140, he was that impressive.
You are so right. Floyd was the total package at 140. He didn't have a weakness. It's a testament to him that only an ATG would even have a chance to beat him.
Here we go with this mythical matchup bull**** again. Nobody from Floyd's era beats him at 140. Nothing else matters.
I disagree. Tszyu is a really strange one - when you look at his resume, and some of his fights as champion, he really wasn't THAT good. Not on PBF's level. As an amateur though he looked like an absolute phenom. I'd go as far as to say he underachieved as a pro, and possibly peaked really early into his career. Pryor stands a chance, but I'm strangely unconvinced he could do it convincingly. Duran probably beats him in a close 'un. I actually think Floyd looked better at 140 than at 135 and 130 - but never really beat anyone to show he was better there.
OH wait, there might be somebody who beats pbf at 140 and that his everbody favourite fighter at 140 junior witter lol.
Yet, you participate in the discussion with this post by specifing that you believe he is the best in his era when he proved nothing. You ARE an imbecile.
