Oscar was 33 when he fought Mayweather with four losses, whereas JCC had only one loss going in against Oscar. JCC might have been slowing down when he fought Oscar as Oscar was against Floyd, but neither fighter was shot. Not being in your prime and being shot are two different things. If Floyd looses you will see everyone who loves him at the moment say he was shot, he is 31 yrs old, he was better at 135, etc. They would be as silent on ESB as all the Hatton lovers became after his last fight. Being a fan of a fighter and just riding the tail of whatever horse is nose-first are two different things as well.
I'm not only blaming Floyd. But I am saying if Floyd fights exactly the same, then the fight will most likely be the same. If Floyd gets some Bravado things can get interesting. And about Oscar being able to KO him with one shot....yes he can. You're right Floyd took A left hook at the end of the fight. But that doesn't mean he can take ANY left hook that lands in the right spot.
Aaron Pryor Pernell Whitaker Roberto Duran Julio Cesar Chavez Wilfred Benitez All would have a very good chance. I'd feel comfortable picking Pryor, Whitaker, and Duran over Mayweather.
Funny that people can watch something and see two different things. Floyd only decided to exchange at the last ten seconds and he ate that left hook with a look on his face like he had been hit with a brick. He didn't respond well, his knees buckled. Had there been more time you would have seen the effects of that punch. Jesus Christ, I give you that Floyd is P4P best at moment but delusions are delusions. No one can say Floyd won that exchange without also believing Sylvester Stallone can go toe to toe with Antonio Tarver.
I agree with your list but would subtract Chavez -- I think Floyd is too speedy and crafty for him. I'd also add De La Hoya. In his prime, he matches up well against Floyd at 140.
Agreed, I'd give Chavez a good chance, but I'd favor Floyd at 140. I think Chavez was better at 135, so I'd favor him there. Good call with De La Hoya...didn't think about him
Floyd undersized at 147? That's bull****. A myth... he has been bigger, and stronger than every fighter that he faced at 147, outside of Baldo who comes down from about 190. And Baldo wasn't even huge compared to Floyd. Floyd fits perfectly at 147... and as he said before, he is great at comfortable at whatever weight he fights... because he stays in great shape. So, he may only put on 2 or 3 pounds after the weigh in... that is only because he stays in great shape at all times. Floyd moved up naturally in weight, and should have moved up sooner, and he wouldn't have had to kill himself to make those lower weight classes. You are killing me with that "his body breaking down" ****.:rofl Nothing like just repeating Floyd's hype from the 24/7 show.:-(
Though I'd favor Oscar over Floyd at 140, I agree with Pimp C about Mayweather. Just because Floyd has grown into higher classes gradually, doesn't mean he's equally as good at each class. He was a more physical fighter at 135 than he is at 147. Using another example, Manny Pacquiao has grown nicely into 130 -- but he'll never be as good as he was at 122, even if he can't make that weight anymore.
Duran, De La Hoya, Mosley(speculation beacause he never fought at the weight) Whitaker and Pryor I would favour to win. Chavez and Tszyu would also have a shot at winning. Chavez is 50:50 and Koysta is 40:60 in favour of Floyd. Edit: Also Taylor which would be a 60:40 Floyd fight.
I seriously disagree. Floyd has actually been much more physical as he has moved UP in weight. He has never bodied people off as he does now. Floyd may have been quicker at 135... so is every other fighter who fought at 135, and then fought at 147... I mean... Oscar was a lot faster at 140, than he is at 154. So, I really don't see the point in that. I think that Floyd is at the top of his game right now... and if you watch him overcoming Hatton... as opposed to him looking overwhelmed at times from the pressure and attack of Castillo, I think that you have to come to the same conclusion. Point being... Floyd isn't "undersized" at 147. Also, his speed isn't different to where it makes him a worse fighter... because the guys that he is fighting against are slower than the guys at 135 also. Speed always slows down as you move up in weight... however, you still normally keep that edge in speed over the slower opponents who have been in those weight divisions, so most of the time it is a plus.
The first part I highlighted was a misleading statement on your end. Look at the guys Floyd has fought at 147. Mitchell was only fighting his 2nd fight at WW(and btw, he outweighed Floyd by 7 lbs. in that fight), Judah is a small WW who many people say should be fighting at 140, and Hatton was coming up from 140. So Floyd has basically fought 3 natural JWW's at WW and all of them still outweighed him on fightnight. Quite simply put, Floyd does not fit perfectly at 147. Against natural WW's, he'll pretty much always be faced with a 10+ lb. weight disadvantage. Williams, Cintron, Margo, Clottey, and many others all have a significant size advantage over Floyd. I really don't know how you can seriously say he fits perfectly at in a division where all the top fighters have a significant weight advantage over him.
Floyd faced the same thing at 140. He would only put on a few pounds after the weigh in. That is just how he is. Floyd doesn't dehydrate himself. So, he doesn't pack on water weight after the weigh ins. He always stays in shape, and at his weight class. Even at 135, he chose to starve himself, rather than to dehydrate... so once he didn't eat for 4 days. The thing is, that if you starve yourself, you don't pack on all sorts of weight after the weigh in. If you drop 10-15 pounds of water weight within 24 hours of the weigh in, you will gain it back immediately after the weigh in, when you rehydrate your body. That is an advantage that Floyd has, not a disadvantage. His body is not suffering from being dehydrated, and rehydrated... and he is always in top physical condition. The guys putting on 15 pounds after the weigh in, just got done putting their bodies through hell, and they feel it during the fights.
