a prime calzaghe would be a super fight (calzaghe of about 1998) before calzaghe got his hand injuries he was even more sensational.

it would have been a close fight but i think calzaghe may have edged it

No one in history prime for prime, too fast, too good defensively, too powerful, too skilled. People will say Monzon and Hagler but they havent got a chance in hell and neither faced anyone like Jones, bar perhaps Leonard but he was smaller/weaker/slower and won

McClellan I'd give the best chance, and its only a punchers chance because he has the speed and power. Benn the second best chance same reasons

well ali did say tyson would take him out remember. dont get me wrong, roy jones just may win but just imagine the calzaghe that fought lacy but only with quicker hand speed, better movement, more accurate and with a hell of a lot of more power.

thing is a lot of boxing fans who didnt follow calzaghe wont know this at all which is the problem. it would be a very very close fight but it wouldnt surprise me if calzaghe out boxed him or if roy jones k0d him

Ive seen most of Calzaghes fights, AND no he didnt have much more power, before he fought Eubank he was called a slapper, his speed was pretty much the same throughout his career. He was better when he was younger but not by that much and he arguably lost to Reid in his prime

Calzaghe gets a bit underrated on here but against a prime Jones he has little chance of actually winning

probably no one, calzaghe would make it awkward for a while but he would get beat in the end imo

Calzaghe would never beat a prime Jones at 168.

Prime Calzaghe couldn't outbox Prime Roy Jones. He could try to use his high workrate and pressure, but he'd take a high risk of getting floored.

Monzon, Hagler, Charles, Moore, Jimmy Bivins, and Lloyd Marshall would probably be the best choices.

    Edit: Somehow I forgot Robinson.

Jones was an absolute great, but some things do make me think Calzaghe would have done well and could have beaten him. I know the question was 160 or 168 but when Jones 1st fought M Griffin who wasnt a big puncher and only short he struggled. Griffin was backing Jones into corners. If Calzaghe was doing that he would have been unloading fast combinations. Griffin wasnt as fast, durable, and awkward as Calzaghe, and Calzaghe could hit harder before he started protecting his hands. Also its known Jones had an illegal substance in his system on one of his title defences, so whos to say that was the first or last time.
At 160 I struggle to think of anyone beating him.
