I think Pryor and JC Chavez to name two. Wilfred wasn’t physically mature and still a bit frail at that weight. He filled out and had more strength and pop at 147, and was a full-grown man at 154 (look at the size of his thighs … like tree trunks).

Pryor & Tzyu will be bad style match-ups for Benitez.

    not even close

AP drives him crazy throwing punches like a mad man and Locche would outbox him

Definitely not, IMO. Pryor, Napoles, Pacquiao and Armstrong would mangle him, I reckon.

True, he beat an aged Antonio Cervantes on March 6 1976 at age 17 because he was fighting an opponent who was quick but not as quick as he. Also Wilfred's chin was questionable, especially at 147 lbs, he was wobbled by Carlos Palomino and Harold Weston Jr .

    I’d favor Pretty Boy Floyd.

Lots beat him. Curry did fair and square and Palamino has a case, Leonard and Hearns missed a bit but won big. His last hurrah was a passionless Duran. I’d favour countless guys in fantasy bouts.

I don’t think Curry beat him. It was scored on the rounds system, which was used in New York at the time. A round with a knockdown (or two) counts no more than a round where a guy edges someone by a few punches.

The extra points for knockdowns would only come into play if it’s scored a draw.

Yeah, I am talking if it was scored using a more widely accepted system today. Curry bounced Benitez like a basketball.

Cmon man, Benitez beat Duran fair and square. There don’t always have to be an excuse when Duran loses.

It was what it was. I just say what I see. I don't know if Duran could've changed anything but that's how it was.

Reasons are not the same thing as excuses. Benitez would not have beaten Duran in Montreal.

    What is the reason exactly?

Roberto was well paid for this, biggest purse of his life outside of the two Leonard fights. So no excuse there.

He wanted a rematch with Leonard and a win over Benitez would have redeemed him and put him in line for it (Leonard fought two weeks later and after that his detached retina was discovered, but a third Leonard fight was openly talked about by both sides if he won).

So he is well compensated and should be supremely motivated.

He had two fights to get back in the swing of things and weighed 154 four months before this fight in his second tune-up.

He trained on a freaking prison island to avoid the usual ‘Duran likes to party’ distractions.

And he still lost damned near every round.

    Benitez had his number.
