Jofre would have the best shot although don't think i'd favor anyone over Gomez at 122.

Right...Jofre possibly, but honestly, I can think of no one else. The Gomez that trounced Zarate destroys Fenech, Morales, Olivares,etc.,...

I'd like to see Gomez try and go toe to toe with Pacquiao at 122.

I think Barrera could have given him a very tough fight. He had power, durability and stamina. He would make Gomez work very hard, and condintioning wasn't Gomez's strong suit. Gomez was a great 122lb fighter but in retrospect a lot of his championship competition was relatively weak. Zarate was a great opponent, but he was moving up from 118 lbs.

Really... You give him a list of hall of fame men and the first thing he does is blame fan demographics and racial bias rather than accepting the possibility that they might actually be "good." There are some people you simply can't argue with no matter how many things you throw at them that are painfully obvious. It's like holding a fork in front of someone and they'll argue until you're blue in the face that it isn't a fork...

The best chance has to be Pacman.

Morales had the skillset and style to neutralise a prime Pac but he wasn't as good as Pacman was against the wider field. A bit like Frazier over Ali, Duran over Leonard, Douglas over Tyson etc.

Pac was a bit raw at 122 but his power and speed was ridiculous, it really isn't beyond possibility that he is able to overwhelm Gomez over 12 rounds and take a decision or late stoppage.

I'm not gonna say I favour Pac, but I am toying with the idea as to who my number 1 h2h SBW fighter is and it's between these two.

I don't class people who didn't do much at the weight but yeah Jofre is a great shout.

Gives me a great excuse to watch SBW clips of Gomez, Pac, Morales, Mab and Vazquez.

I do need to brush up a bit on the sub FW divisions.

the quality of opposition of most of his defenses was not that high. Leo Cruz took him 13 rounds. Carlos Mendoza took him 10 rounds. The standout name on his record is Zarate, who was moving up.
