Who believes in the Muhammed Ali 'anchor punch'?

    I think Liston intended on staying down until he saw Ali was standing over him for that long and the count was stopped. He knew that rightfully nobody would buy him being that hurt from the punch and thus was forced to get back up.

    He was trying to make it look plausible but was forced into other circumstances due to Ali's antics.

    Can you imagine if the internet was around back then? After no one ever using the phrase "anchor punch", the next day there would be 20 threads about "who had the best anchor punch in history" "Did Ali have a better anchor punch than Walcott" "louis would beat dempsey in 8 via anchor punch"

    It would be the "check hook" of the 60's.

    bogus punch, not enough wood on it to drop someone, there was zero body in that punch and even if Liston was off balance a punch like that would not put him down for 30 seconds.

    I give Ali all the credit for fight one but anyone who does not see that Sonny took a very bad dive in fight 2 is either not realistic
    Nothing to discredit Ali but Liston took a dive
