http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/boxing/article1416460.ece By GAVIN GLICKSMAN Published: 13 Jul 2008 JOE CALZAGHE insists the final fight of his career against Roy Jones Jr could still take place at the Millennium Stadium. Calzaghe wants to bow out of boxing on home soil and would love to face Jones in front of more than 60,000 fans in Cardiff. And while Jones claims the bout will take place in New York at Madison Square Garden on September 20, Calzaghe has revealed neither the venue or date have been confirmed. The Welshman, who is currently in Sardinia before returning to training, said: "Speculation about me this week has been amazing. "First and foremost, let me give you the latest on my fight with Roy Jones Jr. My position is simple, it's the fight I want and it's going to happen. "I do not wish to fight again in Las Vegas if at all possible. We've been to Vegas, we beat Bernard Hopkins and it was a brilliant experience. With this in question, does anyone believe Joe's injury
Apparently its still a go at msg for Nov 8th ..I beleive Joe needs more time I don't beleive the injury ..
The man has a hand injury no different than the issues Floyd has had during his career, the fight is still on so I wouldnt lable Calzaghe as a coward, its clear that something is wrong with his hand. if the fight gets called off, well then you have room to speak but right now as it stands if you have used the Floyd injury in your arguements you have no leg to stand on.:deal
i dont believe it one bit, I think now that he is a GBP fighter, they want to push the fight back to a l8ter date so they can get there hands on this fight and promote it. HBO is taking this fight seriously, so im sure GBP wants to cash in as well. A 24/7 is gonna b filmed for this fight the whole works, think GBP is gonna miss out on that I think not, and by them moving the date, there is probably gonna b problems with scheduling for MSG, so the fight may happen in WALES, just wat Calzaghe wanted= MORE Money. I dont buy this injury 1 bit, but im happy its still gonna happen so hey
I do. The guy gets injured a bit often, **** happens. He's not afraid if that's what you're trying to say. He's fought Lacy, Kessler & Hopkins so why would he be afraid of RJJ?
sure he is going to fight him anyway so what is the big deal. why would he fake an injury when he is gonna fight him in a couple of months anyway
I think he has a slight injury but nothing serious, I don't think he's too cowardly to fight RJJ in the States but he probably wants the fight to be in Cardiff as it could be his last if Hopkins beats Pavlik.
