Punchers chance but Montiel struggles with southpaws so I dont see him beating him.

I think Montiel gets a thorough boxing lesson. Mijares is head and shoulders above anyone at 115 now, including Donaire if he decides to step up to face him.

    I agree

M.Castillo is better than anyone on Mijares resume.

Yeah Mijares has a good set of whiskers but can he take punishment to the body and keep up his slick style for 12 rounds, i dont think so.

A great jab and good upper body movement will handle that.

He is a hybrid boxer I would say but I think Mijares is a way better boxer. I think he beats him by decision. That jab will be on Montiel's face all night long.

    Nonsense.

His guard is wide, he stands too squared up, leading to balance issues, especially when he puts his body into his punches. Against a slipper and counter-puncher like Mijares this will get him tagged up to next week. Mijares's ring generalship, jab, and counters will easily keep Montiel off all night, as he hasn't shown how to effectively pressure a a boxer of that caliber, nor does he appear to have the ability. I'll take Mijares to stop Montiel on accumulation late in the bout.

Perhaps a bit extreme, but I just believe his style plays directly into Mijares's hands. Much moreso than a guy like Navarro, though Navarro himself would likely lose to Montiel.

I think Donaire stands a better chance against Mijares to be honest. Though his chances are also slim.

i see mijares as more of an outboxer / stick and move type of fighter than a classic counterpuncher.

I hope gets to unify soon. I think he will fight Vic first before Montiel.

That's true, but he can counter very well over the top, especially with the jab, and exceedingly well on the inside, and given the opportunities that Montiel would give him, he would.
