lol williams is no defensive wizard...i would like to see that fight but i have to say pav should win
AA maybe, Kessler should beat him rather convincingly, Bute is very skilled but untested hes shown he can be hurt so time will tell. Im a Ghost fan but i think he needs to work that D a little better. Hopkins was hitting him with everything but the ring stool and the Ref.
If fights were only eight rounds Taylor would lose to no one, but since he cant get past 8 with out being slap ass tired that really dosent matter that he is a better boxer.Taylor is one of my favorite fighters but ****.
williams, froch, abraham, sturm, kessler, bute, andrade.......pavlik is a KO waiting to happen now....
Froch is like a prime RJJ, except with no natural athleticism, and down syndrome. Carl Froch makes Anthony Mundine look like a prime Roy Jones. Please don't mention their names together, Froch is a good fighter but his only similarity to Jones is that he holds his hand low, but thats because he is too slow to shoot it from a traditional position. Froch - Pavlik is one of the best matchups in boxing imo. I would lean towards Pavlik though, with his superior control of range and more textbook guard and jab.
Pavlik didn`t seem to be able to carry his power up in weight, so i think Kessler and Bute would beat him convincingly! in MW he seems much stronger, and a fight against AA would be awsome, but its rather hard to pick a winner.. both have great power and a strong chin, but Pavlik is more busy in the ring and have longer reach, so i cant favor AA to beat him at 160 it would be a 50/50 fight!
Brother -- That right there is a thing of beauty -- The single best description of Carl The Clumsy I have ever seen.:deal
Based on the ideas that styles make fights, and skills pay the bills, I'll break some matches down a bit. First let's dispose of Paul Williams. He's a welterweight that has no business in the ring with Kelly Pavlik. Arthur Abraham: Easily one of the most over-rated fighters on the current boxing scene. Let me give an example: Shannon Taylor got KNOCKED THE **** OUT by Raymond Joval, and one fight later went the distance with Arthur. If Pavlik/Abraham ever happens, Arthur will last 8 rounds at the most. He starts slow, and Kelly starts fast. AA will get the ever loving **** beat out of him in the first 3-4 rounds, and he WILL NOT be able to recuperate. The slightest amount of pressure sends Arthur to the ropes or a corner. Pavlik is an extremely good pressure fighter, and the ropes is where his victims go to die. Abraham's ONLY chance would be to keep the fight in the middle of the ring. However, you can't do that unless you have BHop's footwork and Taylor's handspeed. Arthur has neither. Bet your ****ing house on Pavlik in this one. Felix Strum: This is a bit of an anomoly at 160. Sturm is a better pure boxing than Pavlik or Abraham, and stylistically he presents a much greater challenge to Kelly than Abraham. The problem is that he's not quite quick enough to stay completely away from flush right hands. He'd have his moments and win some rounds. Ultimately he would get knocked out, but there is a good chance he could become the first guy to make it past 9 rounds with Pavlik at 160. Carl Froch: Man, there are some people on ESB that must be acid babies, or smokin' Mad Dog and drinkin' crack, or something. Styles make fights, and Froch has the perfect style to make KP look like Sugar Ray and Godzilla had a ******* love child! Any astute observer should be able to see the fact that you simply cannot show the defensive ******ation that Froch shows, and make it out of the mid rounds against Pavlik. Lucian Bute: This one would make me a nervous wreck. Pavlik does pretty much everything better than Andrade, and we all saw what happened in the Bute/Andrade fight. However, the best southpaw on Pav's record is a faded version of Bronco McKart. Off hand, I'd say it's a 70% chance Bute wins a UD and a 30% chance KP stops Bute late while behind on the cards. Mikkel Kessler: Stylistically Pavlik/Kessler is one of the best fights that could be made in the near future. This one is all about the jabbing contest. Kessler's jab is a bit quicker, and might be a bit stiffer. Kelly's jab is WAY more versatile. The big question: Can Pav back Kessler up? That would be the key for KP to win. Put Mikkel on his back foot and keep him there. Kessler is the bigger, stonger man, so it may not happend. Right now I'd say Kessler wins a close but clear UD. Give Pavlik a chance to properly grow into 168, and I might have to take a new look.
Kessler would beat Pavlik convincingly, and Bute isn't easy. Apart from that, no-one. If Pavlik fights smart against AA, he has all the tools to beat AA. This idea that Abraham has devastating one-punch power is an absolute myth. A guy with a chin of Pavlik's calibre isn't going to get KO'd, and he has much better skills and work rate to win a UD. Paul Williams isn't big and strong enough to cope with Pavlik's power. Pavlik vs. PW = Hagler vs. Hearns II. Froch is too wild to beat Pavlik. As long as Pavlik sticks to the jab and straight right, he beats Froch easily.
