Mattyhsse, Maidana and Bailey. I just can't see any scenario where he'd beat any of these three.

Actually, you were correct in your context. I was just pointing out we won't get the fight.

IMAO Rios will beat Maidana convincingly. He has straighter punches and better defense combined with better punch resistance. Also Maidana doesn't seems to like body punches and fades late into his fights. Rios punishing body attack will get to him late into the fight. Matthysse is a different story. I think that Lucas might edged being the natural JWW.

Maidana struggled against soto karrass who's a poor version of rios.
Matthysse is another story, rios vs Matthysse sounds good.

I think on the inside, Rios may get the better of him earlier with shorter punches in exchanges, but Maidana would eventually time an overhand right or left uppercut that hurts Rios. Rios has a great chin and some under-recognized defense, but if Alvarado can time shots on him, so will Maidana, who has caught and hurt and even stopped better pure boxers. In a war of attrition between volume and straight up power, in this case, I think Maidana's power will make the difference. If he could take Ortiz's shots and keep coming, I'm confident he'd be durable enough to do his thing on the inside without too much worry against Rios.

There's acouple that could beat Rios, but I think people getting styles confused and think bigger power means they can beat Rios when Alvarado proved that theory wrong. Alvarado was a bigger puncher than Rios he hurt Rios bad, but he opted to fight in the trenches with Rios which is Rios fight. Rios isn't a pure puncher like Bailey who loads up and throws little. Bailey stylistically should be wrong for Bam Bam problem is Rios has a good chin and Bailey isnt a 2 handed fighter like Mosley. Only one I think comes closest is Bradley tho without the power, but enough sting get Bam Bams attention. People forget infighting is Bradleys bread and butter plus he's more accurate with his punches. Bradley-Rios would be a helluva fight.

Power becomes a huge factor in predicting fights when one of the combatants gets hit as much as Rios does.

Power is only a piece of the puzzle especially when one has a rock hard chin like Rios. It took Mosley 9 rounds of bombing, bodypunching, and clinching to thrash Margarito, a bigger, stronger version of Rios. Take a one dimensional bomber like Bailey if he misses or gets pressured by Rios to where he can't load on his punches what do you think happens to Bailey? Alvarado had bigger power than Rios yet it was him that fell to Bam Bams pressure.

Bailey's power is in an altogether different league than Alvardo's. Bailey has one-punch power that knocks out legitimate welterweights; Alvardo doesn't even clearly have that equivalent at 140.

Yes but Alvarado had Rios stunned at least twice in the early rounds and he isn't half the puncher that Bailey is. Rios earns his KOs through attrition and I believe Bailey would finish him before Bam-Bam has a chance to wear the old man down.

Matthysse kills him obviously but i think Ajose could outbox and slug with him to a win. I would love to see Rios against Allakhverdiev or even Provodnikov.

Ajose may have been able to make it competitive at one point but I think the inactivity and the beating he just received probably doom him going forward.

I think Rios would beat Maidana.

Matthysse is the only other guy I can think of.

one guy I would have loved to see Rios fight at 135 from the past is Edwin Rosario. Edwin had so much power, I am not sure Rios could have taken it.
