Kessler will stop Pavlik in 5 rounds, who do you think could challenge him?

Kessler has always appeared to me as someone who lacks a little in confidence and self belief. When Siaca stayed on his stool Kessler was jumping for joy like he won Lotto and done a similar thing when he got the verdict against Mundine.

Against Calzaghe he was going well but after 4 rounds when Calzaghe would fight back he seemed to lose confidence in his own ability and Joe took control of the fight. Even against Mundine he would back off when Choc appeared in trouble only for Mundine to come back and land as Kessler eased off.

With that I'm concerned at how Kessler would have handled the loss. I also believe that now would be the best time for Mundine to fight him because if Choc could start strong and do a few things different (as I expect he would) then he may catch him out.

If I were Kesslers management I'd be looking for a fighter that he can belt around for 4 or 5 rounds before taking him out.

And no I'm not drunk (or drug affected for that matter.)

Then dissapear from this tread! :smoke

No! when Kessler beat Siaca he became World champion as a subsitute for Larsen. Mundine was his first defence, long from home, if you know a little about the judges in Denmark and Germany, you'll understand why he was happy!:yep

    Calzaghe obviously.

Chad Dawson in perhaps a year or so (though he'll have to put in a better performance than he did in his last fight).

Fair enough but I think if you dig a little deeper it's not that simple.

When he first went pro he was like some pretty boy in the wrong neighbourhood. He used his legs alot more, using the ring and boxing while engaging every so often. As he grew and got stronger he started to hold his ground and with the wins came confidence.

I have no doubt that the people around him do a good job looking after him physically and mentally. The guy is a great fighter and IMO had he been mentally tougher he would have beat Calzaghe. From what I saw he twice got on top of Calzaghe but lost the plot after Joe lifted around the 5th/6th. Instead of boxing he was trying to take him out. He lost faith in his boxing ability. WHAT WILL HE DO IF THAT HAPPENS AGAIN???

Who knows, maybe Calzaghe could have gone to another level and coped with whatever Kessler came up with. That said I believe Kessler has plenty more good years and big wins still in him. Hopefully he'll be able to snare a fight with Bute who would be severly punished.

I also believe that it won't be long before he steps up to light heavy (3 years) due to lack of class opposition at super middleweight. His willingness to take tough fights and travel could see him retire as one of the best of his era...if he can put the Calzaghe loss behind him.

Roy Jones could give Kessler some strife.

As much as I would like to say Mundine I think the result would be the same or a little better for Mundine...but still a kess win.

Mundine just wont work as constant as he should to keep the pressure on....and if he did Kess may KO him.

Disagree with most of this. First off, Kessler won a world title againt Siaca FFS, how did you expect him to act?? Nonchalant?

Secondly, Kessler has been very strong mentally, as shown in all his other dominant defences and unification efforts.

Against Calzaghe he fought well, winning rounds, but ultimately getting outboxed. It had nothing to do with mentality at all or confidence.

Zab Judah is a guy effected by confidence. As is Mundine. Kessler is a confident fighter, i really don't understand how you would even begin to come up with something like this.
