Who can Berto fight to put him where he needs to be?

Cintron or Paul would be huge steps for him and prove he's "there" if he wins. I believe he loses both though. There'd be no shame in fighting Paul either, coming off a loss or not, imo. He's still in all likelihood the same fighter, for better or worse for his own health. Cintron off a loss doesn't hurt either, by the way. It still pushes him forward if he wins.

 

Since there are no big names nothing really other than unify quickly with the WBA(senchenko) and IBF(Zaveck).

 

fight his mandatory, there is no point in rushing it to prove himself. There is a very good chance he will be the one to get pac in november.
If he wants to make himself better known to the public he should either fight williams or cintron. Or do something crazy outside the ring that will put him in the spotlight.

That's one thing he simply cannot do at this point. He has missed the train on rushing a long time ago, man. Fighting a top name is NOT going to be rushing right now.

 

It seems zavec will fight paulie and senchenko will face alavrez, why not let the winners face eachother then the winner fo that fight faces berto. Pac fights marquez in november and the winner of the berto fight faces pac in march 2012. thats a good match up, right

 

But it will put his chances of getting the pac fight in jepordy. From what I hear bob is more interested in matching pac up with berto then with marquez. If he waits untill the moley fight happened the field at welter might be cahnged then. He either lands the pac fight or gets a shot fighting maybe paulie or alvarez for another belt.

 

Clottey or Margarito. Margarito would be good before Marg faces Cotto later.

 

He's at the point in his career that he needs to take that big jump. He has held the WBC championship since 2008 and had made 5 defenses. He has beaten some "names" in the process.
He is a high risk low reward boxer right now. So it is going to be hard for him to get that fight.
My personal opinion of Berto is that he is the most dangures puncher at 147, but I'm not sold on his defense.
Mayweather is his mandtory. The fight makes sense for Mayweather
1. Mayweather should win
2. There is a preception that Mosley Pacquiao's next oppoent is washed up. (He's not).
Like I said Mayweather should win. Pacquiao would be favored as well. Perhaps even Mosley.
Berto has had 27 fights already. I don't think anyone is going to make him better. At this point in his career. It is not as if Vyacheslav Senchenko, Soulemane M’Baye and Jan Zaveck are major leaps in compotion compared to who he has been fighting.
At this point in his career Berto is either good enough to beat the best or he isn't. That is not likely to change.

 

Not getting the Pac fight might be the best thing for him.

He needs a big fight and he needs it sooner rather than later. He is a very good fighter in my opinion but not unbeatable. I actually like Berto and really hope he features in some headline fights in the New Year.

 

Be pampered and fed Hernandez and Forbes types for huge sums of money but no real hardcore respect? It's been working like a charm, Cesare. But, really, my point was, yes, another fight could jeopardize his shot at Pac, but if he gets hurt by Williams and Cintron, better we know because he'd get possibly his career ending with Pacquiao if he can't handle himself with those other top names.
