yeah i understand he was pushing but just he wasnt really beat round wise if you know what im saying, the pushing was excessive but a lot of referees wouldnt call it and when you just watch the fight through peterson doesnt win many rounds by himself, it did stop inside fighting but khan could fix that with a bit more work, and the other point i kinda wanna make is that the way peterson fought, even the way garcia fought are two methods that floyd would never do, garica just accepted getting tagged to land something big his eye was messed up pretty fast, peterson just leaned in on khan and forced a tight inside fight , its hard to see mayweatehr do this but it would be intersting to see if he did

broner is clearly a good fighter at the lower weight classes but he is kind of unproven at welterweight as far as world class goes, collazo could be a better fighter. I thought he should have drawn with paulie and should have had a point taken away and then he was beaten by maidana , yano what im saying its had to judge exactly where hes at, yeah a broner khan fight would tell a lot be a fun fight id say aswell to watch, i dont mean to say maidana is not world class but his welterweight run is good but lacks a name to say really how good he is in regards to the other top ten fighters

Fighters not even half as talented as Floyd have had no problems timing Khan and making him fight their fight, so why the hell would Floyd have any trouble for him? I believe Khan would be an easy fight for Floyd.

    2010-2014..

I think to beat Floyd you probably need to be a relentless awkward brawler but who is more intelligent than people realise. Maidana is a fighter who does this. Ortiz actually had some success getting Mayweather back onto the ropes just by strength and force as opposed to trying to outbox him. Now i don't think Ortiz or Maidana have ever been good enough to win or ever will be but they showed little glimpses of a possible way to have success against Floyd....

The one who fits the bill most would be Margarito. I would still favour Floyd in this one though just because you can't really back against him, but if anyone would have, i'd have picked him, but then it's also a possibility Mayweather just outboxes him and makes him look slow and useless.

Paul Williams would have been interesting simply because he's so tall and doesn't stop throwing punches for 12 rounds. I would like to have seen how Floyd could have dealt with this awkwardness.

People talk about Floyd v Manny, especially in 2010 but i give those two fighters more of a shot than Manny. Essentially to beat Floyd i think you either need to be super awkward or very rough and relentless, probably all of those things. You are not outboxing him.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but Paul Williams. At welter Paul had speed and power. The thing that people forget to mention about Maidana and how good he looked in that fight was his reach. Paul Williams had pretty good reach. I have a very hard time seeing Mayweather lose to a shorter fighter with a small wingspan.

This is an absolutely delusional post. You obviously hold a very bias disposition against Floyd. Not one of those guys is "destroying" him. He's an ATG and every one of those guys you mentioned aside from Pacman are not on his level whatsoever. COmpetitive fights? Possibly. But none of these guys are going to "destroy" FLoyd. That's a hyperbolic statement and very baseless.

First off, Las vegas has been the mecca of boxing well before FLoyd ever turned pro. This is where the top tier fighters from all over the world come to fight and FLoyd is no different in that regard.

He has the commission in his pocket huh? So how the hell did one of the judges call his fight with Alvarez a draw? Even the other judges in that fight gave Canelo 4 rounds. From the looks of that scoring and the scoring against Marcos, maybe FLoyd should think about "bribing" them with a little bit more money.

And what do you mean by courage or intestinal fortitude? Is it his fault that he's only been in a handful of competitive fights in his pro career? He has 22 title fights under his resume with the majority against top 3-5 in the division at the time. The guy has almost double digit wins against HOF fighters. So I don't buy into the idea that he "avoided" guys or he's some kind of cowardice boxer. He's an ATG, plain and simple. It would be contradictory to think a boxer can somehow navigate their entire career into ATG status without taking chances. That's silly.

I'm not a huge fan of Mayweather's antics outside the ring, but you have to give the guy his just due as a fighter. Also he's the P4P # 1 fighter in the world and the largest PPV draw, it's very common for boxers of his stature to call all the shots- from the venue, the gloves used, the ring size, etc. Don't make it seem like any of these demands are considered over the top. This is how it's always been with the best fighters in the world- stretching all the way back to greats like Sugar Ray RObinson who was notorious for making absurd demands and also changing his mind on certain contractual provisions at the last second.

Nobody put a gun to Maidana's head and forced him to sign for an undeserving rematch.

No one doubts Mayweather boxing abilities he has incredible boxing talent but that alone does not make him great He has the balls of a gnat a yellow streak up his back a mile wide. He refuses to give any opponent a level playing field he makes cowardly demands
You say about the judge CJ Ross making the Canelo fight a draw?? What happened to her? They fired her for not following instructions. The judge that gave Maidana the win over Floyd was the only one got it right
Can you imagine sugar Rays father saying in public " I will not let Little Ray fight Jake LaMotta Rays health is more important than $$$$" ROFLMAO Floyd is a woman beating coward nothing more

I'm sure some of these keyboard warriors on this site can beat Floyd, they seem to think its a walk in the park and that he can't handle speed, pressure or southpaws so I'm sure they can beat him easy.,

Sergio Martinez would have knocked Floyd out
GGG said he will come down and knock Floyd out
Maidana with proper gloves would have knocked him out

He's an outstanding fighter in a WW division with no outstanding WW fighters. Pac is an outstanding fighter but not an outstanding WW fighter. A few boxers would give/given him serious issues, and that would have been Paul Williams, Khan and Thurman. All big WWs that are very quick and could catch Floyd. Styles make fights and Floyd fighting someone like Maidana is bread and butter for him. But proper boxers that are quick like Williams and Khan will make things a lot more uncomfortable for him.

Put Floyd and Pac in the 80s against the likes of Hearns and SRL, and the story would be a whole lot different. It puts the quality of todays WW division in context, compared to a really competitive WW era.

khan & thurman are floyds bogey men now? gtfo here man. why, does khan struggle verses vastly inferior opponents than floyd? And never avenge his losses?
