i must say that guy hit it right on the nail... a win against a chad dawson would actually cement his legacy.. that would be the only fighter that one couldnt really discount... and the best competion out there at this time cuz after dawson there is nobody left to fight..

Can you give some examples of the boxers in and around Calzaghes weightclass (ie potential opponents) who you currently rate above Bernard Hopkins on a P4P basis. Thanks.

    Spot on.

He wont get a lick of respect from me until he faces a viable oponent.

Complete crap. Dawson's resume is no better than Kessler's prior to him fighting Calzaghe. If Calzaghe beat him, Dawson would suddnely be discounted just like all the rest.

but has usual... nobody wants to see their favorite fighter actually face any real adversity lol.. u guys love these fairy tale endings... beat shot legend and sail into the sunset undefeated... even my favorite fighter mayweather did the same bullshyt.. but at least he left beating a figher that was in their prime... not a washed up faded legend that was only good for 2 rounds and then didn't even put up a fight.. just became a moving punching bag

kessler is a solid win but do u become a legend with one solid win lol... did lennox lewis solidify his legacy by beating one solid contender and 2 washed up greats... last time i remember lennox beat everyone in his division.. hopkins and roy jones were not the elite of 175 ... dont forget that... chad dawson is the heir apparent there...

Calzaghe already has respect atleast by me, I have him P4P #1 with that said his win over Jones means nothing Jones is clearly shot. I would however like to see him face Dawson. Which IMO would be the biggest ight in boxing.

has far has im concerned i put chad dawson and calzaghe in the same boat.... they have wins against the same level of competition... one beat a washed up roy and the other beat his nemesis a washed up tarver... they are both undefeated with solid wins against old guys that almost beat them... hopkins and glen johnson.... so what better fight then to have two guys that havent faced any real prime formidable competition to fight each other

Actually you're right. A win over Dawson would turn into Lacy pt 2, he might get more credit losing that figh than winning that fight.

I think there's nothing Joe can do, there's no other prime dominated force in the 160-175 divisions. There just isn't, it's either green or over-the-hill.

Joe ****ed up years ago by sitting at home and fighting mandatory WBO no-hopers when he could have shored up some big wins and tried to unify in his and others prime.

Without a time machine, his legacy is what it is.

A good resume, a great fighter, who wasted too much of his prime career fighting nobodies.

..but does he really give a ****, he has millions.

Even if Calzaghe moved up in weight, took a time machine back to 1971 and KO'd Ali in the first round, before taking on and beating Foreman and Frazier in the same night, he STILL would NOT get ANY respect from some people on here. Because they will hate him whatever he achieves, for what reason, I don't know.
