he has to fight chad dawson plain and simple... u cant sail off into the sunset by beating up two faded legend and a solid contender in kessler... kessler is a great fighter and calzaghe fought an excellent fight... which i picked for him to win.. but he was a stylistic nightmare for an inexperienced kessler and lacy.... but i do give him alot of credit for kessler fight but that isnt gonna cement a p4p legacy... u gotta have one more legitimate fighter in their prime ...

nobody hates him ... where just saying its not enough... u beat an old roy jones... u get 0 credit for that lol... plain and simple... he will join the ranks of guys like larry holmes that just didnt face the level of competition that we would have liked to see to be named all time greats

He's got my respect for his beatings of kessler who is a brilliant fighter, hopkins who while past prime is still very effective and lacy who while hyped up was a decent big puncher and joe gave him one of the worst more comprehensive beat downs i've ever seen

However i give him very little credit for beating a shot shell of a former legend in roy jones

this is the same reason that rocky marciano isnt regarded has the greatest heavyweight ever is level of competition... he was undefeated yea... but who did he beat in their prime that was on any significance..... he beat a old washed up joe lewis... do u actually think he could have beat joe in his prime lol.. and the funny thing is even after calzaghe's fight last night everyone is still saying that a prime roy would have been a no contest... why do u think everyone is saying that lol.... but il give it to calzaghe ... he was the greatest super middleweight ever ... but 168 has no signficance to anyone lol

spot on along with the original post.

its ridiculouse, if he retires now, it'll be that he duked dawson, if he fights dawson and wins like he blaitently will, it'll be that dawson was primed enough its a joke.

he has my respect too but can u honestly say that hes solidified as num 1 pound for pound because of those fights.... u had something to say about every fighter except for kessler lol... so thats telling me that kessler was the only true legitimate fight and the hopkins fight just showed that a prime hopkins would have been a loss for calzaghe

That is your opinion. Don't pretend you speaking for others are well ("where" - you mean "we are"). If you give Joe zero credit for out classing Roy Jones then that is just dumb, and he deserves credit because it was a great performance. Like I said on another thread, having a ten year reign as World Champion, having a 46-0 unbeaten record, beating the likes of lacy, jones jr, mitchell, eubank, hopkins and kessler puts you on the ATG list in my opinion, how high on that list is for others to decide.

lol ur what makes boxing what it is today... this is why the top fights arent being made... this is why boxers are beating a bunch of nobodys then fighting washed up bums and then retiring and claiming a legacy cuz u fans allow that lol... u dont bash ur favorite boxers from taking away from the fans... but i can understand that cuz im a mayweather fan... and mayweather is still p4p better then calzaghe and his resumes better... end of story im done talking

No i don't have him number 1 p4p i have pacman there with calzaghe 2nd, hopkins is a legit win, he might not be at his prime but he is not greaty removed from it, well physical remove from his prime he is but he makes up for that with his second to none ring brain and his abiliity to now make his opponents fight his fight. Bernard is probably still top 5 or 6 p4p in the world now so it is a very very good win, the way hopkins owned Pavlik proves as much.

My point with lacy was he was overrated before joe destoryed him (people comparing him to prime tyson etc) but he was still a good massive punching fighter who calzaghe destroyed, another legit good legacy win

However i do fell kessler is by far and away his best win but i rate kessler very highly

BUT OMGZ THEY FIGHTS AT 168 AND I'VE NEVER SEENS THEMS BEFORZZZZZ111ONEONE1!

who else should he have fought before he took on joe?

me being a mayweather fan i bashed him when he retired prematurely without fighting cotto but u guys has calzaghe fans let him sail into a sunset without a legitimate win.. and i dont care what u idiots say that jones fight is not a legitimate win.. but then again u idiots dont care.. u guys are probably the same ones that are gonna buy the pacquio and de la hoya fight and add on too de la hoya's bank statement even though this a proposterous match up
