How? He'd press Williams and it'd probably be a brawl, he's similarly as tall, aggressive and hard working, physically stronger and has power like Williams has never felt.
To be honest I don't know of any welterweight out there (outside of Mayweather) that can beat Williams, in my opinion he's the best welterweight in the world (if he chooses to go back down) Shane would be his stiffest test, but only because he packs a punch and would be able to test Williams chin. As I seen last night, Williams is very hittable and if the right person gets a good shot on him, it would interesting to see how he reacts. There is no one at Junior Middleweight that can match well with him, I think the best shot would be Kirkland and thats because he has a relentless style and he can eat some shots. At Middleweight, the only guy I see possibly beating him would be Abraham, he has a good left hook and the peek a boo defense. Pavlik and all the rest get beat !! I haven't seen Dzinzurik fight so I didn't vote for him, from what i've read, he's a typical European boxer ... I would have to see more of him.
i think that pavlik and a.a. could beat him with their power and comfort at the weight and mosely is just way beyond betting against him he just finds ways to win especially in his biggest fights when everyone is betting against him
I don't like his chances against Pavlik , I would be interested to see if he could hold up to AA's bombs, I don't think AA could outbox PW
I think Paul might be able to out box Kelly, but then, when did Kelly ever give a **** about that? The only person who actually did out box KP over 12 rounds was Hopkins, and Williams at 160 is not even comparable to BHop at 170. Pavlik would come out in full bully mode, force Williams into a war of attrition, and take him out in about 5 rounds. Short, very fast paced, and extremely brutal fight. Williams would have his moments, but in the end, he'd leave on a stretcher.
That is only half of the power equation for me. I didn't see Paul Williams throwing shots that would hurt either of those two. Lots of arm punches and 'points scoring'. Look how many 'free' shots Taylor got on Pavlik and couldn't end it. If you don't have enough power to get the respect of Pavlik or Abraham, you are in deep trouble.
How many guys could take Pavlik's accumulation punching power? Do you know his KO ratio? He has more chances against AA, but: Paul hasn't dealt with a guy who can hide in his shell like Wright, but also has the most power in both of his hands p4p. Williams would beat AA by UD, but he would've to surrender 12 rounds against a guy who can end a fight with one single punch (or at least hurt his opponent bad enough to finish him off easily). And make no mistake, you won't see AA in bad shape against the top guys. All in all Williams would've his chances against both Pav and AA, but I don't see him winning.
Perhaps the definitive statement on Abraham/Williams. If Abraham had been hitting Williams as clean as Winky was, that fight would have been OVER.
I think the difference between Arthur fighting Williams or Pavlik is that Arthur could probably finish Williams with one of his right hand bazookas. Against KP, Arthur would have to keep his follow up nice and tight, cuz one bazooka won't get the job done, and we know for sure that KP knows what to do when he's hurt. It's like Nazim Richardson said; "This guy learned to fight gettin' his ass whipped while he was comin' up." We do not know if Williams knows what to do when he just saw that bright white flash, and it hurt down to his toes!
