Patterson's my third favorite fighter but I just can't see his chin holding up for the long run.

Moorer could knock out any fighter under 190, his power at 175 was horrific and still decent at heavyweight against bigger guys than Rock, he would have been a murderous cruiser.

I’m inclined to agreeing with you for the most part. I watched Moorer come up as a light heavy and saw him knockout dudes like Frankie Swindell, Leslie Stewart, Mario Melo, Jim McDonald and Jeff Thompson. Problem is, he never really fought anyone at 175 who was terribly durable or even very good. And fought No One at cruiserweight ever. His power at heavy I would describe as being “ decent”. Yes I concur that there were a lot of guys under 200 who would have been stopped by him but I question weather or not he was unsurvivable

Prime Ezzard Charles and Dempsey. Rocky was a slow starter and Jack was a buzzsaw and if Moore and Walcott could drop him so could Dempsey. And Jack was a far more murderous puncher and finisher than they were.

Spinks, maybe Evander........I don't see anyone else given the specific criteria the question forces us to adhere to.

I have the same picks Dynamic, I think Patterson and Holyfield would be able to bang with Marciano, Spinks and Charles would handily out point him. Granted the Rock defeated twice but Charles by this point had some serious mileage on him to say the least. Not to discredit Marciano's wins over Charles, I just feel the majority of Marciano's wins against ATG like Charles, Louis, Walcott, were not in their physical primes to say the least. Again not to discredit these wins, in fact I think the first Walcott bout is one of both fighters greatest performances, but simply put I feel like Marciano existed to clear out the old guard of boxing.

Not trying to create an argument or a controversy but isn't the heavyweight limit over 175 lbs? People or fighters for that matter back in the 1950's did not use Modern (Steroids) Nutrition. That started to become extremely popular during the 1970's and 1980's. The motion picture Rocky 4 made it's use well known. Rocky Marciano and others did not need the use of artificial means to bulk up, fighters did not look like overgrown toads back then. old fashioned hard work was the successful way to go forward. In present times fight fans are impressed with size and height, in the past everyone fought more often for less money. Every generation has their favorites.

Nar, at that weight Marciano would wear him down and break him apart IMO.

Jack Johnson would have a chance at 190. So would Sam Langford. My pick for the best chance, however, is Jack Dempsey.
