I think the current division is stronger than it was 7 years ago, or in the 1980s, 1950s or 1910s.

You were ranting about how HW division is **** because Huck moved up and gave Povetkin (#3) a competitive fight (albeit he lost). I said that Spinks moved up from LHW (!) and beat Holmes (the champ) in the first fight. If Huck moving up makes current HW division look bad what does it say about 80s?

Again your Spinks/Holmes argument is weak as Spinks is an ATG and is an exceptional talent.

Granted the 80s were not great but this divsion has nothing to do with the 80s, this division is **** in its own right.

My point was it is not a sign of quality that cruisers come up and instantly be the most interesting contenders in the division. Again i dont hate cruisers (in fact they are the most interesting contenders in the division) it just shows there is a lack of talent when it comes to natural heavyweights.

I maintain though Mormeck is a bad defence for Wlad, and is just more evidence on how crap the division is.

They need to beat the upcoming HW's that are likely to hold Titles after they both retire. Wins over the young HW's who go on to have a successful career and win belts themselves will enhance their legacy as time goes on.

Likely to Hold Title Post K2 and are ready for Title shot now

    Povetkin
    Helenius
    Chisora
    Pulev

Unlikely to hold Title but decent Title defense and ready now

    Dimitrenko
    Arreola
    Fury
    Wach

Likely to hold Title post K2 but need 1 big fight first (like Chisora before Helenius)

    Boytsov
    Solis
    Gerber

Likely to hold Title but need 1-2 more years

    Glazkov
    Szpilka
    Price
    Rivas

Less likely to hold title and need 1-2 more years

    Abdusalamov
    Pala
    Perez
    Ortiz
    Wallisch
    Mitchell
    Wilder

This is a ridiculous statement and would only carry weight if Briggs or Rahman actually had of beaten any of current crop in recent years which they clearly haven't.

Briggs's last big win Siarhei Liakhovich, 2006.

Rahman's last big win Kali Meehan, 2004.

Just because the sanctioning bodies are a joke it doesn't mean the current crop are.

Who has Haye beaten though? I don't see how people who look at Wlad/Vitali's record in 20 years will look at Haye's name and think "Oh look... he beat David Haye, that was a great addition to Wlad's record. He beat Audley Harrison and a near 40 year old John Ruiz".

Haye's record is paper thin and without a number of tune-ups he doesn't represent any legacy-enhancement at all. Povetkin offers a much bigger scalp at this juncture.
