Who could get up after that Shavers' right hand which knocked Holmes down?

    I'm aware.

Shavers is in a completely different league to Whyte in terms of power. And would probably beat Whyte.

No he isn't. Whyte knocked Chisora unconscious with a single punch. That's more than Shavers has ever done.

Shavers might knock Whyte down, but Whyte would get up and stop him a few rounds later. That was the pattern of a lot of Shavers's fights against men on Whyte's level.

Leaving Tex Cobb out of this, (obviously)

Ali, Foreman, Tony Tucker, Holyfield, Tank Williams, Tua, Chuvalo, Mccall, Vitali.

Vit, Tank, Chuvalo, Mccall and Tua likely wouldn't even go down.

Ali, Norton ,Holmes Quarry, Lyle , Young, and LeRoy Caldwell who fought everyone said Shavers was the hardest puncher they ever fought, as a matter of fact ,everyone who fought him said that. Bert Sugar did a video stating that he possessed the single hardest punch in boxing history. You have a real minority opinion that clashes with actual fighters and expert opinions

Boring. Can't a Shavers fan come up with an original argument for once?

All respect, @It's Ovah but they're stating objective facts and not conjecture. They don't have to be original when your argument falls apart in the face of the actual fighters' testimonies.

That said, I won't contend over who's the greater puncher. The proof in my eyes came out of the mouths of his opponents, it's a super hard sell to go against that kind of collective testimony.

But, all respect (really). If you see it differently, more power to you.

Possibly. Norton was a very good fighter who just came apart against aggressive bangers. His boxing skills were top notch.

I asked for video proof backing up the poster's claim that Shavers was the greatest one punch hitter in boxing, and I got the same old nonsense that's been regurgitated for years, and which has no bearing outside of the actual fighters from that era.

There's nothing objective about opinion. Seeing a muddafugga get knocked unconscious by a single punch is objective. Shavers never did it. Whyte did, twice. Therefore, objectively speaking, there's a better case to be made for Whyte than Shavers here, and I don't rate Whyte anywhere near my top punchers of all time.

I just think if shavers DID hit as hard as legend describes he would have won a strap at least once

Bert sugar was the most biased pundit/historian ever. Stated that chuvalo would have beaten both klits and Lennox Lewis

Exactly. One hitter quitters show real raw power at the top level
