The best Hagler would have shot of course, but handspeed and lateral movement gave Hagler trouble, Jones has an abundance of that. So I would tilt towards Jones.

As for Spinks, I think he was a very accomplished fighter, but I don't he does ANYTHING better than Jones. If doesn't do anything better, I can't imagine him winning. Just a matchup issue for Spinks. He wasn't faster, wasn't quicker of foot, didn't throw more punches, wasn't better defensively, power about equal.

I would make Jones a 3 to 4-1 favorite in that fight.

Taking his prime to be 168, it's pretty difficult. Maybe one of the guys who moved through that division before it really existed - Conn, Marshall or Charles perhaps - could get him, but no fighter who officially fought at 168 is going to beat him in my opinion.

At 160, things get more difficult for him. I just don't think he has the experience to match the best of the best there, although with his athletic ability you never really know.

At 175, I pick plenty to beat him, Moore and Foster right off the bat.

Jones would make Foster look like the awkward box-huncher is is at times, but at the end of the day, he may be the hardest puncher of all time p4p. I don't think he has to hit Jones clean to get him.

I think Fosters jab is underrated too. It would present problems, with his long ass arms./

Exactly! I don't think he would, either. Foster's power was his saving grace. He was a good fighter for sure, but didn't have the ability to match some other great Light Heavyweights. With his power, he could make things interesting, but I think Roy is too good for him.

Thought it was becasue of the 15 lbs of muscles that he has to shed off?

But then in the rematch, he was just aught by a lucky punch.

Wait, in the 3rd match, he was simply not motivated at all, right?

uh Spinks hits much harder at 175 than Roy did... seriously his right hand might be the most powerful punch ever at that weight. keep in mind Spink had a far superior jab and could easily dictate the pace of the fight and maneuver the smaller RJJ around the ring

Has everyone forgotten about Montell Griffin? He was bringing it to Roy before Roy got DQ'd. If Roy was winning, he wasn't winning big. A lot of people thought the extra punches were a cop-out...an intentional DQ, because Jones knew - or figured - he might lose.

was just about to cite that griffin fight as well as tarver 1 as to what roy brings in terms of intagibles. he was frustrated and out boxed by griffin but he hung in there and crawled back to contention. then was probably on his way to a T/KO until the DQ. then in tarver 1..where he looked exhausted by rd 6..he still pulled it off. he can walk through the fire and win IMO
