Who could have beaten a prime Roy Jones Jr?

-I disagree. Their speed is on the same plane. Arguing who was faster would be splitting hairs.

-The 1:00 mark is an odd point to highlight. Mills appears to suffer a delayed reaction and is clearly dazed, he stumbles into the ropes and retreats into a shell, Marshall is just looking for a follow up on a potential knockdown and buries a right hand to his body.

Marshall got off some lengthy combos here that were near that on the inside, he was also incredibly accurate. Kind of a mute point.

Mills has about 10 pounds on Marshall here. The biggest size difference Marshall overcame was 21 pounds against Maxim and Farr. Marshall deserves points though for dropping the durable Maxim for a 9 count.

I don't know your supposed flaw at the 1:00 mark leads me to question that observation.

-In this very clip, the knockout left hook is comparable in speed and power. It comes out of nowhere and Marshall is a damn blur.

We aren't going to agree but I appreciate you at least watching the footage and explaining yourself.

 

I do see now that Mills was staggering backwards, not seeming to know where he was.. But Marshall should still be careful, some fighters play possum or in someone like Nigel Benn's case are even more dangerous when hurt. Mills was clearly hurt though.

My problem with this video, is things just arent as clear, I have a hard time seeing the connection on some of the punches, maybe my eyes are just high def trained now.


I still think Roy is clearly faster, certainly more pleasing to the eye, I think Roy's style is an evolved version of Marshall's that is just my opinion though. Thanks for sharing the video.:good

-Just keep in mind that Marshall is also 33 in this video and this is his last really great win. Its reasonable to deduce he may have been even faster in his prime a few years prior. He is the only man to knockout Charles at LHW.

 

I don't waste my time to speak on people that took roids their whole career. Roy will be known as the Barry Bonds of boxing as time passes, and Marquez will be known as Roger Clemans.

 

He certainly had some impressive wins, and obviously had serious power.

Would you actually favor him over Roy at 168? If you had to pick, who would you say wins?

 

-When he was on top of his game, everyone felt his power as well. He dropped Hall of Fame defensive masters Holman, Moore, Bivins, Maxim, Charles, and Burley while all these men were in their prime. He also supposedly rocked and hurt a prime Jake LaMotta multiple times, forcing the bull into a defensive shell.

-Marshall has a very good chance, I believe they are evenly matched. Maybe they trade knockout wins, and fight to a draw in the rubber match.

I used to think Monzon could but now I'm starting to doubt that. Monzon would cause him problems.

Said it many times..if Roy Jones was a just a little bit more offensive-minded he could have stopped every opponent he ever met in the ring..including Hopkins..He was that gifted..Could have retired with a 55-0 record or sumthing.

Too bad we never got to see him tested to the limit..with all due respect.Eubank IMO could have tested him good..would have never beaten him tho'..Nigel Benn even less chances..except a puncher's chance.

No even the great SRR I would have give a more than a 50% chance against Roy Jones.
