That did cross my mind but Johnson himself was at least 2 inches taller than Tyson and was far more experienced on the inside than Mike, who was pretty clueless up close. An opponents greater height can not only be overcome, but can be made to be at their disadvantage (granted moreso in street fighting than Boxing, but still some applicable level here). If you try punching sharply up or down at a target, you’ll notice your power drops off to a noticeable degree.
