Who could Mitchell beat for a World Title?

Burns- Mitchell for the wbo interim/full title after Guerrero vacates. Winner vs kats for the full after jmm vacates

 

I wouldn't favor him against any of these guys

 

Got to say that lightweight is not a good division for Mitchell in terms of style matchups and strength in depth for Mitchell. There are some massive fighters out there at 135 and there are some top pressure fighters who could rip him apart. Even if he does pick up a vacant title against a Burns or somebody of that ilk I can't see him being able to hang onto it for very long.

 

I like Mitchell, but JMM, Guerrero and Rios all destroy him I'm afraid. I think Vazquez decisions him as well.

 

Rios would destroy Mitchell.

I've heard Vasquez could be the best of the lot @ 135lbs.(Not counting JMM) Have never seen him fight but hear he has a very difficult style to overcome

 

His only hope is to get down to 130 again, train like a demon, and he then might be pick'em with Burns..

 

For me Vazquez is the only one I'd give Mitchell a real shot against out of the 4. Hasn't particularly impressed me when I've seen him.

 

Guererro and Marquez are moving up so the belts will be vacant

 

^^ Thats his best chance. As it is that lot are a tough nut to crack. Can not see him outboxing Guerrero or Marquez. Rios is three times as good as Murray and John caused him enough problems. Vasquez is a very skilled little fighter as well, he's no easy task. Tough crowd in this division unfortunately.

Vasquez is getting underrated by people on this thread I feel, he's a very solid technician who would likely trouble anylightweight out there. I'm still not sold on Guerrero, he did much better vs Katsidis than Mitchell obviously but that style suited him a whole lot more too. I actually think if he was staying at lightweight, he'd have his best chance vs Guerrero

 

Mitch is going to have a heap of trouble overcoming that consistent southpaw right jab of Guerrero. Guerrero is not spectacular by any means but he's one of the few southpaws that uses his advantages to the fullest - he's an excellent ring general and I'd say thats his greatest strength. I'm not sure Kev is the smartest fighter in the world. Last night was more of a battle than anything which he overcame with his superior skills and cleaner and harder punching, but he still got suckered into places he need not have been and that Guerrero wouldn't have been in.

 

Fighting tall off his jab is definitely Guerrero's biggest strength you are right but Mitchell seems to me to have the adequate head movement to slip it more often than not and that counter left hook/uppercut would be very hard for Guerrero to see. Not that I think Mitchell's foot movement is anything special but I feel that Guerrero does struggle with quicker fighters who can get in and out without being caught by one of his snappy counters and to be fair Mitchell has shown he is pretty adept at it.

I think it would rest on how often Guerrero finds him with the jab so if Kevin could negate it, I feel his accuracy would see him land on Guerrero fairly regularly and give him an excellent chance of a win
