who could of beat Tito by slugging it out with him

In terms of walking him down, eating his punches, and ringing him out to dry, I like Basilio.

 

De La Hoya, I'd bet money on it.

 

I think a lot of old timers have the ability to stand up to him with their toughness, but some fighters that come ready to mind include:

Ray Robinson
Tommy Hearns
Mickey Walker
Carmen Basilio
Emile Griffith

Perhaps a Ted Kid Lewis, Sam Langford or Joe Walcott could beat him in a slugging match too but I haven't seen footage to feel comfortable in saying.

Kid Gavilan and Ray Leonard, whilst not noted for their toughness, probably have the will to be able to grit their teeth, take some shots and ultimately let their superior skills/speed do the talking.

I guess it's just that he's taken more for a flashy type predominantly than a hard man.

Hearns, DLH, SRR, and SRL would all do it, all at 147, and Hearns and SRR would do it at 154 too.

Mosley has a shot at 147 if he's on the roids and catches him with multiple flush right hands early. Mosley's handspeed would serve him well versus Trinidad, and he has a chance of overwhelming him with bombs early.

McCallum and Julian Jackson would both KO him at 154 as well.

 

No mention of Duran ?

Rodrigo Valdez could make 154 even during his own era in his mid 20s , Jose Napoles wasn't mentioned , Langford , Duran , Basilio , Julian Jackson (if he lasted as long as he did vs McClellan by d time he did , Chito poses quite a small risk 4 him) .
Bennie Briscoe actually weighed , without trying , 155 as late as late 1970 , and it wasn't just 1 odd time his weights somehow dropped , it was 1 of his more common weights .
Marlon Starling , Ray Leonard , Simon Brown , Aaron Davis and Jose Luis Lopez . Sim Thompkins and many more . Chito Trinidad was merely a loaded gloved hypejob who feasted on has-beens , smaller men and other hypejobs (Vargas,Campas) .
Rubin Carter was 155 a few times in his career without even trying and actually hit d 154 mark @ d last year of his career 1966 , so he could have also done it and fits d bill perfectly .

 

I didn't know DeLahoya , McCallum , Griffith & Gavillan were such acomplished sluggahs that they could outslug d ATG master slugger Chito Trinidad .

 

I agree with McGrain on Gavilan, the man was a ****ing piece of cast iron.

Also, it's glad for me to see a post from four years ago of mine that I still agree with.

 

Young De La Hoya who had a killer instinct would win a stand off with Trinidad. Oscar has an ATG chin, and faster hands than Tito, he may also be more accurate. If Oscar drops Trinidad early like many people did, I think he'd finish him.

Remember that they did fight and DeLaHoya was d same age as Tito , and a smaller man , so a "Young" DeLaHoya would have been just 2 small 2 even compete with Tito . If anything , history tells us that DeLaHoya caught Chito just @ de right time , and still didn't beat him .
Chito outgrew 147 by that time , DLH didn't . Fact is Chito never fought again @ d weight whereas DLH did .
Also , DLH was not a slugger .
