Anyone that doubts the fact that the prime Joe Louis couldn't ko McCall if he could unleash his finishing attack on Oliver McCall , is not a seious poster. No human being in history could withstand an assault from Joe Louis ONCE he had you HURT,and avoid a ko or referee stoppage...NONE, even Andre the Giant. Posters talk about Lennox Lewis, George Foreman etc. Great one punch hitters yes. But Joe Louis ,once he STUNNED his opponent threw clusters of swift deadly combinations on his victim. Like comparing a rifle with a Gatling gun. Doubters please watch again film of the prime sleek Louis ,demolishing Max Baer in 1935 with triple left-hooks, trip hammer right crosses, against the cast-iron jaw of Baer, and still think that Oliver McCall or any other big target Louis has hurt, could long survive staying on his feet... Oliver McCall ,nor anyone could absorb such dynamic shots for long. You had to stay away from the Brown Bomber to survive....
Big George and Shavers are the guys who I'd have most confidence in being able to Ko McCall. Tough ask though
I did get the idea that Lewis eased up once he saw that McCall was in no position to defend himself. He just landed enough to force the the fight to be stopped.
I sure don't think Lewis lobbed any bombs NcCall's way that resembled what he did to Ruddock or Golota.
There is a video of them sparring on youtube. Everytime Tyson goes to the body, McCalls calls timeout claiming he was hit on the hip. Its funny as hell.
People need to remember that stopping elite heavies was not in Shavers' skill set. Punching hard and KO'ing are two different tasks.
