I think Louis could take him. His style, power, and size would make it a hard fight, but I do think Joe might have it.
I think he would beat most pre-80s HW greats if we're taking him at his absolute peak without injuries. He would just be too long, too sturdy, and too skilled for even the best HW ATGs.
Would Tito Trinidad, Naseem Hamed, and Lennox Lewis fill the supporting cast of other boxers @Ney hates with a vengeance? I’d watch that honestly.
I like Lewis & Klitschko just fine as people. They are class acts & Lewis is a legitimate ATG, though over-rated. Klitschko is a fine, upstanding man most Boxers don’t live upto ethically. Holmes, Hamed & Trinidad can go to hell.
I would favor Vitali against all of them, I'd give Tokyo Douglas the best shot..............but I'd still favor Vitali. I think he'd blow Moorer away, he'd be smart enough to outduel Mercer and not be dragged into a war and it really wasn't that much of a task to outbox Oliver.
Vitali's best wins are Samuel Peter and an out of shape inactive 38 year old Corrie Sanders let that sink in for a moment. Vitali's H2H ability gets vastly over estimated he had all the advantages vs Lewis and Byrd and still couldn't win. Lewis was old at the end of his career and in the worst shape of his career. Byrd had a weeks notice fighting in Vitali's backyard aswell as being the much smaller man. People go on about Vitali's dominance but any notable Heavyweight would steamroll most of Vitali's opposition.
I disagree, I think the top HWs of the current/recent era would have their hands full beating several opponents that Vitali dispatched easily, even if they won in the end. As it is, an ancient Chisora gave Usyk a tough battle, yet he was just another day at the office when Vitali beat him in one of his last fights. Conversely, standout HWs today like Parker & Ruiz would've likely been indistinguishable from other challengers that Vitali routinely turned back.
Chisora gave Vitali a good argument from memory i had him winning atleast 4 rounds and i remember Vitali's body was noticeably marked from Chisora's body punching. Chisora landed 164 punches on Vitali at a 45 percent connect rate. Chisora landed 137 punches on Usyk at a 22 percent connect rate. So Chisora landed more punches on Vitali at double the connect rate. I don't think many top rated Heavyweights would have issues with the likes 260 pound Kirk Johnson, Chris Arreola.
