Indeed. Jones clowned on many a lesser fighter during his prime so he basically got what was coming to him in that fight... Embarassment and a good ass kicking.
I almost cried laughing at the "showboating" he attempted to do. Good name for Joe's resume even though Jones wasn't Jones no more.
If theres one thing that makes me laugh about these forums, it's that there's obviously people out there cry themselves to sleep at night through fustration and anger at the fact that Calzaghe was successful and retired unbeaten. I can only imagine they spent the weeks leading up to the Lacy,Kessler,Hopkins fights praying hard and hoping that finally Joe would lose.. and now he's retired the only way they can deal with it is to come on internet forums and make the same posts over and over again. Deal with it and move on in your lives. It's embarassing to read
Like most have said it's karma. For **** sake, Jones clowned on Calzaghe after the knock down in round 1. He had the **** comming.
Calzaghe is a great fighter in his own right. He proved that with his record, and solidified it by beating Hopkins, but a prime Jones was one of the best fighters of all time. He would have beat Calzaghe too. Anyone who denies this, is lying to themselves. Jones is one the most amazing athletes of the past century. Mackie Shilstone himself said that he's never seen an athlete like Jones before.
Jones had no problem clowning those civil servants he used to fight. He clowned Vinny Paz who was shot and a former LIGHTWEIGHT!
Jones didn't look 'shot' when he kicked the living **** out of Lacy to me man... I don't know... I mean, I know he was only a sliver of what he USED to be, but that just goes to show how ****in insane of an athlete he used to be. The way he handled Lacy the FIGHT AFTER (I think) the Calzaghe fight was a thing of beauty. Those 8-punch combinations were nowhere to be seen in against Joe... I think it goes deeper than the same old 'he was shot' excuse IMO.
As a Jones fan there were no tears because Karma is a ***** ..He use to clown all of his opponents no matter their skill level ..I found it funny that Joe did it but it was no where on the level of Jones it was more of a watered down version ..That's like saying ****** Timberlake is as soulful as James Brown when all he is ,is just a a watered down version ..That's what I thought of Joe's clowning ..Funny none the less and can't blame Joe for doing it I mean he was in there with one of his idols !
It got tiresome and embarrassing after a while. Roy couldn't do **** but that didn't stop Calz from acting like a clown. What's the pleasure in clowning a fighter that doesn't have it anymore? While Dawson and a few others he stayed away from.atsch
Didn't he also clown James Toney ,Reggie Johnson ,Virgil Hill Eric Lucas ,and Clinton Woods all of which were faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from civil servants !! Must be nice to listen to everything Larry Merchant says :goodAnd Paz was shot really you sure about that
