I have been thinking about this recently and can't make up my mind. I would say it is Lamon Brewster but he has dropped off of the face of the earth and had eye problem(s).

I think it is either Tony Thompson or Chis Arreola.

Either way it is pretty sad to think about. Like Larry Merchant recently said "where have you gone Jack Dempsey and Joe Louis?"

    Thoughts?

    But true I'm afraid :|

One could argue Thompson I guess, I just don't like his arm punching, it doesn't look good on a HW

Arreola is a non-starter. He ain't done **** yet, and looks like a slightly above club fighter level to me.

You have Thompson, Rock, Toney, and I know you will not like this name, but Ruiz. He will fight anyone. Actually, the thread should read: Where is all the American Heavyweight fighters?

Hopefully in a few years there could be an exciting prospect on the rise. One could only hope.

Right now it is Chambers or Thompson for sure. These two should fight each other sometime.

Eddie Chambers, although not a strong puncher has quick hands and good boxing ability which is hard to come by in the heavyweight division. Unfortunately he has bad conditioning, shown in his loss to Povetkin. Although he was impressive in the beginning of that fight, it later showed he had stamina troubles as well as what appear to be a lack of desire. It seems that focus is a problem with up and coming heavyweight from the US, or at least compared to the Eastern Europeans.

I'd probably say Steve Cunningham, if he wanted to fight at heavyweight. I think he'd beat Chambers. As for the current lot, I think Arreola just pips Chambers to top spot.
