Bowe was too easy to hit in that fight, Holy always said the work he did with Steward for this fight was turning point for his career and the template for how to beat Tyson.
Obviously this was a classic. I think Holyfield took the fight to Bowe and edged out the win. Both landed a lot of bombs and were determined to push forward which made for an epic battle. I just feel Holyfield did enough to win back his title
I think he never scored it as he was beaten right there. But his arrival could've changed the outcome
holyfield(but the night i watched it i thought bowe won) but when you break it down rd by rd ....holy wins no problem
holyfield by a round or two. "fan man" helped out bowe alot. holyfield had hurt bowe and had him wobbly just before that happened. bowe got his second wind because of the break in action. still, a great fight!
I agree, Bowe was a touch busier but Holyfield's punches seemed the better quality of the two and just edged it in a very close fight.
I had it 115-114 for Holyfield. It was very close. I’m not big on Punchstats, but for whatever it’s worth, Bowe outlanded Holyfield by 100 punches or so based on the numbers and I’m sure nowadays there would be quite a debate on the forums who deserved the win. I scored the 7th round (Fan Man) even. Holyfield had a big round 5 and also won round 6, but Bowe was having a very good round 7, controlling it with his jab. After the break, Holyfield got the better of round 7. It was tough to score and I had it even. There were 2 rounds late in the fight that I gave to Holyfield based on late rallies. They were close rounds that I gave to Holyfield based on the endings, and it made the difference on my card. Possibly on the official judges as well.
Holyfield had won rounds 5 and 6, rocking Bowe at the end of the 5th, but Bowe was actually having an excellent 7th round before Fan man came down. Bowe was controlling the round with his jab.
