I'm a Hatton fan, so naturally I want Floyd Hatton. I believe Hatton deserves it the most because he's currently the undefeated king of a division, and he and Floyd never settled their score. It would be the top ten pound for pounder, and current undefeated king of 140 vs the #1 pound for pounder, and current undefeated king of 147. Mosley would be my second choice, because he's accomplished far more in his career than anyone on else on the list. He blew away his competition at lightweight, beat Oscar twice, was once the man at 147, and I believe he was #1 pound for pounder as well. He also put up two respectable, yet unsuccessful fights against now former 154 king Winky. But, he does not currently stand on top of any division. Margarito and Cotto are a pickem for the third spot. All four would give Floyd a hard fight, and it's not inconceivable that they could beat him.
Who deserves the most right ? Definitely Cotto. He fought 3 times at welterweights and proved he was top 3 welterweight. Mosley could be the number one right now but Cotto deserves the first shot, imo.
I voted Moseley, because he is probably the best match for Floyd, with equal skills and better accomplishments, and only age to slow him down. On the other hand, he hasn't done much lately to merit a title shot particularly now. In terms of deserving the fight now, then it should be Hatton or Cotto, but in overall terms, it's Moseley, the multi-weight champ, DLH-conqueror, and boxing superstar.
Wait, I take it back. Betty White is currently battling osteoperosis and incontinence. This drops her down to #30,000,000,001 and bumps that Margarito guy up a spot to the 30 Billionth most deserving human on the planet.
Deserves the most? Ofcourse Mosley. Mosley gave shot to Forest, Wright, Collazo, even tho there were bigger $ and less risk elswhere.
Mosley obviously deserves it the most..but I think Floyd doesn't like this fight to happen because IF he wins, people will just say ''Shane is past it, if he were in his prime he would've beat Floyd''...Mosley would be a very competitive opponent for Mayweather, even at this point of his career (Shane still has some good fights left in him imo..his performance against Collazo was very good), but it's pretty obvious Mayweather has nothing to win here. Hatton however just got off a big win, is in his prime and is undefeated...he may not deserve it as much as Mosley, but it's just clearly the smarter choice for Mayweather.
It's not just about wins, Shane's resume is great, Cotto isn't on that level (yet). Just look at the names Mosley has fought and the titles he won. If anyone deserves a shot at Floyd it's him. Hatton is just the obvious choice here for Floyd. And Cotto, I'm sure he will get his shot. Thing is Cotto can reach a much higher level in terms of greatness WITHOUT having to fight Mayweather...he could easily clean out 147 and make his name bigger, that would surely draw Mayweather's attention..matter of fact, after he beats the winner of Williams/Margarito, Cotto should fight Mosley. The winner would get a fight with Mayweather no doubt. If Cotto beats Mosley he has done everything he can, there would be nothing in between him and Floyd. And if Mosley would take out Cotto, the world would know Shane is NOT past it and he would get the shot at the p4p king.
I see your point. I just think Mosley DOES deserve it because he already had alot of big fights, he's still standing above Floyd imo, even though he's been defeated a few times..the Collazo fight proved he still has what it takes. But we obviously view this from different perspectives, that's ok. I do think Cotto deserves the fight, but I'd rather see him get just a few more fights under his belt. I really think he has the best chance of beating Mayweather out of all fighters, but he's not at the top yet. Career-wise and skill-wise, I think he needs a few more fights to face the top dog. At least the winner of Williams/Margarito...
