Lucian Bute: Showtime invest a lot of money and they didnt do that just to let him go after that.
Mikkel Kessler: At last I heard, Showtime never publicly announce that Kessler will have the first fight after the tournament. Only WBC with their title emeritus "decide" for everyone. And since nobody likes this kind of title, I guess even the fans dont like that possibility.
Runner up: I must admit though that if theirs drama in the final, it would be the best to make a rematch between both fighters. But if they do that, I hope its for real reasons and not just to makes this "already too long tournament" longer.

The fact that Bute now have a poor resume compare with the other fighters is because of the super 6. Because if not the super 6, only Kessler and Froch have fought better opposition. Everyone, even Ward himself already state that to decide who's the best in 168, they have to face Bute.

    This.

And I think it will be. Larouche said in a radio interview that they indeed had been in touch with Kessler's camp, but that his people said he wasn't available until the summer. "That's it, that's definitely where we wanna be, we want a fight with Kessler by the end of the year"... and Lucian agreed.

    Stéphane Larouche already said that:
march 19th it was suppose to be
    1- Froch vs Jonhson
    2- Bute vs Kessler

but Froch hurt himself in training and had to take longer to train and Kessler said to I-Box that they would not be ready before the summer. So now we have Magee in march 19th. A good boxer, but not in the same class as the super 6 fighters.

Well, the other boxers think he is near number 1. They must know something.

Your statement is plain false. Do you really think that Allan Green has fought better opposition than Bute?

Abraham has one single win at SMW and that's a shot Taylor. His resume is not better than Bute. Dirrell has only won against Abraham, so...
Taylor has a solid resume at MW, nothing but a shot Lacy at SMW.

Kessler has a better resume. Froch has a better resume. Johnson? Well, if we talk of the last decade, he has only Allan Green on his resume. Ward has a better win, but all the reste of his resume is worst than Bute's.

    What were you saying again?

Kessler, Bute and Dirrell should fight each other. The winner gets Ward.

In Kesslers three biggest fights (Calzaghe, Ward and Froch) he has a 1-2 record.

Bute is really yet to have a big fight. We'll see how good he really is come his fights with Ward/Froch.

But once again look out for Brian Magee!

Hes lost to Reid, Tsypko and Froch. Only Froch has KO'd him.

Hes improved as well so Bute might just have a tougher night then some expected.

Magee is near the top ten, so he ain't ****, garbage, journeyman or any other word haters use to downgrade a professional fighter. I think that Bute will be too much for him though. Lucian's footwork is very accurate and that doesn't seem to be Magee's biggest asset.

I would like that someone clearly ask Kessler if he's ready to fight Bute this summer. This thread question would be useless if both men fight.

    Assuming Ward wins, Bute.

    Froch wins, Kessler.

Johnson wins, rematch with Bernard Hopkins.

Abraham wins, Rematch with Froch or Bute.

    Kessler, obviously.

Just because everyone's been talking for the last year or two about how it would be cool to see Bute vs. the winner doesn't mean that he's owed the first crack, as nothing with him was ever agreed on as it was with Kessler (via emeritus status). Even if he was - the prior agreement takes precedent. Fair is fair; Kessler was promised first and he did leave the tournament coming off a win (wasn't eliminated). He has unfinished business with the winner; Bute has never even begun to have business with them yet.

Bute can wait, and it will only serve to make the fight between him and the Kessler vs. S6 Winner even bigger.
