I agree with this. I see no reason why Kessler should have 1st crack at Ward if he wins the S6. It was such a one sided beat down last time so it'll be a hard sell.

It was an news on Bscene of Kessler saying Bute needs to take a step back.

You can find the article on Bscene.

This after 1-2 weeks before Bute gave him a call about a fight. Why would he advise Bute to step back and not challange him for a fight about the same time as the S6 Final ?!!

Kessler may have only a few bouts until the end of his career. Why not fighting Bute this summer or this fall? I can understand one tupe up fight, but if he's able to fight and doesn't fight Bute before the end of the super six, that's called ducking. And if you duck, you don't earn a shot at the winner of the super 6. Kessler was not at his prime 2 years ago. After another long inactivity, how do you expect him to be?

I'll answer this one: not better than the last time we saw him.

The fight between the winner of Bute-Kessler against the super six winner would be bigger than Bute against the winner of Kessler-super 6 winner, especially if it's Ward. Kessler-Ward 2 would be a big fight for Kessler and his fans but not for fans in general.

I think the idea of a Kessler vs Bute fight needs to be pushed more. The winner gets first shot at the winner in a unification.

Difficult to say right now. I hope Bute steps up his competition and faces one of the losing semifinalists. If he does that impressively he'd be a very deserving candidate.

Then there's Kessler. I reckon that he'd have beaten Green and be having a semifinal against froch if not for his injury. Now he was injured and as a show of goodwill he vacated the WBC title even though he didn't have to. He did that to keep credibility in the s6. So if he gets back fit for fight he'll be a very deserving candidate.

So there you have it. In terms of who's the more deserving I'm on the fence. That I think it is more fair that Kessler gets the first crack is another matter.

It's not like Bute waited 2 years by the time the tournament is finished , I think he didn't waited enough , Yes BUTE CAN WAIT

Kessler would have shredded Green to pieces. The rematch with Froch probably would have taken place in Nottingham though... tough one for Kessler. He must hate Ward so much, I'm sure he hopes Ward takes it - what he seems to forget is Showtime's influence on the selection of his opponents. Showtime will want 1 or 2 quality fights from him before he exerces his right as WBC emeritus champ, only because he's coming back around 10 months before the S6 winner gives a shot to anybody. He's exciting to watch, so is Bute, and that's why they pushed for the fight to happen in March... ****in injury prevented an actual answer from Kessler as to whether he wants to face Bute or not. "Unavailable until June" doesn't say much, especially when Kessler is making offers to other people (e.g. Stieglitz).

As far as Bute facing THE semi-finalist, it'd be Johnson. AA is not hanging around at 168 after getting embarrassed by Ward, and Froch wins a war against Johnson. Bute & Johnson already said it'd be no problem if I recall correctly. I like this fight less than I like Bute-Kessler, but it's credible. If Kessler doesn't face Bute before September, watch Interbox AND Showtime applying a lot of pressure on Kessler's people. It's inevitable, they're fighting each other within the next year IMO.

Only Dirrell ranks high enough on Showtime's interest scale to be able to spoil the party, provided he takes a fair tune-up beforehand.

Don't forget, the WBC title will not be at stake outside of the S6 before March/April 2012. :yep
