There were links all over this site, even recently, about Cotto not being ready at 140 and when Mayweather was on his way to fight DLH, Cotto just finished a "test" fight at Welterweight. When Cotto stepped up there everyone knew that he needed a few fights before he's ready, it didn't require brains for anyone to realise that. However, there were links recently which I didn't really bother to search for, pretty sure someone will donate a link or two if they read this post, if not then I guess it's too bad. If you were around when such talks were hot and new you would know about them without the need for links since these talks were very popular back then.

He did outbox him, yes, but it was a tough close battle. Cotto was rocked in round 10, got a few seconds off and STILL showed signs of being hurt all the way to the 12th but still fought back. Surely that's not a good sign for someone that claims Mayweather ran from him, right?

Fact is, Cotto can't handle punches he doesn't see coming and those type of punches are the ones Mayweather specializes at.

During the time of the Hatton fight Margarito didn't fight Cotto, so you might want to remove Cotto's name from the list. During the Hatton fight Margarito fought Williams and Golden Johnson.

I did address Cotto, isn't half the discussion here about Cotto, Margarito and Williams?, you can see my Cotto posts in the previous one and right here.

The Williams case I have nothing to defend with, this is definitely an opponent Mayweather should have fought and could have without the complications Margarito and Cotto brought(Bob Arum). So there isn't much for me to say there, after Williams handed Margarito his ass he was definitely the one to fight.

I disagree. Let's look at Cotto's resume that year: Judah and Mosley, Pacquiao's resume: Barrera and Solid, Mayweather: Hatton and DLH.

Mayweather wins and does so EASILY. You can keep acting like the Hatton win can be "forgotten" because it's useless but in reality it's a very solid win and a major reason why Mayweather won it that year.

Well I expected a response like "What if a 24/7 was made?", haven't you already read what HBO had to say about certain fights not having a 24/7?, they save those for fights they look at as megafights and HUGE fights. Mosley vs Cotto might have been huge for hardcore fans but to the majority this wasn't huge, so instead it gets a countdown rather than a 24/7, same thing for Margarito. If anything, Margarito was looked at as a fighter trying to PROVE his self going into his very first major fight, with Cotto being looked at as a fighter trying to prove his self by dominating this division. Those are two guys looking to PROVE themselves because they're hardly established, sounds like two fighters worthy of a 24/7?, don't think so. Though I do agree it would have been amazing but still the big boys in charge know best.

What plenty of great names exactly?, if you're going to come and tell me Cintron, Collazo and Clottey then surely you can't do it with a straight face.

The only names you can currently mention are two, Margarito and Williams. Hardly TOO many names.

Also, one title defense or not, he still defended it. When he didn't defend it people like you claimed he has ZERO defenses, he CAN'T be a true champion!!!!!, when he has one, he ONLY had one!! and you know the rest.

At the time he made his first defense to Hatton, Margarito lost to Williams(out of the picture), Cotto is booked to fight Mosley and Williams booked to fight Quintana early the year after.

To those that claim there are PLENTY OF GLADIATORS IN THE DIVISION, you're just talking out of your ass and you know it. There are three names and ONLY three you could mention, with one name you can REMOVE out of the list(Cotto), another name having to avenge a loss he's running away from(Margarito) and last name is truly worthy of fighting(Paul Williams).

I apologize if this will sound ignorant but I'd rather not check out these videos as people tend to say **** that actually makes me laugh rather than take it serious. Fact is, Mayweather had four fights at Welterweight and within three fights he became the #1 Welterweight officially and lineal champion. Margarito still needs a few more fights to capture that position OFFICIALLY and this is a LEGITIMATE Welterweight according to his fans.
