Who did better against Floyd? Juan Manuel Marquez or Canelo?

Is Canelo now higher ATG than JMM?

Canelo, obviously. Canelo did better by far than any FMJ opponent since DLH. Floyd's closest fight in years.

Agree with the pattern that's developing here.

Then go to rehab like DLH did. If you got a problem with drugs, then get help. Whatever drugs you are taking are clouding your view of boxing fights. If you don't think this was the closest FMJ fight since DLH, then that could explain it. Good luck in rehab getting the help you need.

Think its so easy to say Canelo as he won a round or maybe 2.
But over the course of 12 i think Marquez actually landed more often on Floyd.

No he did'nt land more often on Floyd.
Body shots are scoring points you know.

Seems like alot of fans dont know a damn thing about physicality and style matchups.

For one Canelo was about 20 lbs heavier in the ring than Mayquez was on fight night.

Secondly, Mayweather had a 5 inch reach advantage on Marquez but only a one inch reach advantage on Canelo.

Its not rocket science here, Marquez is naturally smaller than both Mayweather and Canelo. He has the physical characteristics of a featherweight while Mayweather is has the height and reach characteristics of a welterweight.

Marquez physical disadvantage with Mayweather is tantamount to what it would be if Mayweather fought Thomas Hearns.
While Mayweather has a 5 inch advantage in reach on Marquez, Hearns would have a 6 inch advantage on Mayweather.

I think almost the whole forum agrees that Hearns with his freakish phyysical characteristics would outbox Mayweather.
Hearns would be a bad style matchup simply because of the package of quickness/speed/reach, which is exactly what Mayweather has on Marquez.

Physical advantages Mayweather has on Marquez which he does not have on Canelo.

Canelo is better than Marquez, he did better against Mayweather! :nut:silly
Simply the thought process of an individual who does'nt know anything about the nuances of the sport.

Btw, did you all know that Hearns held a 12 inch reach advantage on Roberto Duran???
Hearns reach advantage over Leonard was only 4 inches, still sizeable, but way far from 12.

Leaonard would hold a reach advantage over Mayweather of 2 inches.

Many boxing fans dont take this into account when analyzing matchups.
Some of the defensive pullouts and leanbacks Mayweather employed vs the likes of the fighters he's been fighting recently he could'nt get away with against some of the ATG welters and juniormiddleweighs because he'd be at a reach disadvantage.

Not only would Leonard and Hearns have a reach advantage on Mayweather, but both were on par or better with quickness and speed as well.
Mayweather matching up with those guys is foreign to Mayweather. He has'nt fought true welters and juniormiddleweights with the total package of quickness/speed/reach.
When you do that is when you really have to dig down and bring out your skills.
