I'd be the first to praise Wlad's performance against Joshua too. Joshua's size and style forced Wlad to fight and allowed him to perform. But the fact is Fury didn't allow Wlad to perform at all. Fury shut Wlad down. It's that simple.
Not if you nearly got stopped in the process. Plus the Wlad that Joshua fought had been sidelined for 18 months. Better fight to watch but Fury won better.
One man flounced around the ring like a flim flam con artist, shimmying, shaking and faking with all the finesse of a circus clown but showed no intention of doing anything vaguely resembling boxing or fighting. The other came to wage war if necessary and faced his opponent like man, putting his all out there and challenging his opponent to match or better him if he could. One of these fights will be watched, rewatched, rerun on tv as a classic and might go down in the history of Heavy Weight boxing as one of the great title fights. The other will be forgotten, on purpose, by nearly everyone who had the bad luck to see it in the first place. One fighter beat WK honestly the other picked his pocket like a sneak thief and then ran away gloating and boasting like the chav he is.
Yes I could agree with that. I think to some degree people are getting mixed up with what was the most exciting fight rather than who did better
Stopping someone isn't necessarily better than winning a decision. Not only did Fury win almost every round, while Joshua nearly got knocked out, Fury did it in Wlads back yard, whereas Joshua did it in his own backyard. Wlad was also coming off an 18 month layoff against Joshua, unlike against Fury.
It's not even close, Fury dominated Wlad. And I dispute the assumption that Wlad that fought Joshua was a better version. That is ridiculous, he was 2 years older (over 40 and shopworn and this has been well known for the past 4 years), and coming off of a loss. Wladimir fought even with Joshua and the fight was entertaining because they were damn near equally matched. Joshua couldn't outbox Wlad the way Fury did. He had no choice but to fight (hence entertainment). The more "impressive" win was Joshua but the better win was Fury. And yes Fury did far better than Joshua, he took damn near no punishment, who on earth in 22 years of Wlad being a pro can say they outboxed Wlad? Only Fury.
For whatever reason, Wlad put in a lacklustre display verses Fury. Where is Fury now? In his bed scratching his fat arse.
Klitschko looked much better in the fight against AJ In his fight against Fury he looked old and slow on his feet and I didn't expect Klitschko to fight like he did saturday. Fury had a dominance performance against Wlad and probabaly did better, but the fight was boring. The fight against Joshua will go in the books as a classic, because of the drama and the stoppage.
As has been said previously, Fury's was the more impressive win. He took on a fighter unbeaten for, what, ten years who had never been outboxed and completely outboxed him. And he did so in his own backyard when nobody believed he could win the fight. Which is not to say that Joshua doesn't deserve credit, he does massively. He showed heart and guts and went to war in a classic that will be remembered. But he almost got KO'd against a 41 year old coming off an 18 month lay off on his own patch. As has previously been said, casuals will claim Joshua's as the better win, hardcore fans will say Fury. Those who are claiming Joshua beat "a better version" of Wlad, well this just shows the difference between skilled, knowledgeable onlookers and those who aren't. Anyone who knows the sport knows that fighters do not suddenly become better over 18 month gaps in which they turn 40. He might have been made to look better as he could land shots on the stiffer, more upright Joshua whilst Fury's feinting and movement had him hitting air all night. But that's not the same thing.
The man is in he's 40's, he was then a year and a half older with a 18 month lay off. It would be physically impossible for him to be strongest, faster etc, nor did wlad complain about not being mentally focused he just wasn't able to deal with fury. This is like mayweather coming back next week, and people saying he looks faster and shaper than ever before. It would be complete nonsense. I know people want to say this was the best version of wlad to give Joshua maximum credit and write off that fury beat a younger wlad with no ring rust without him laying a glove on him. I give Joshua tons of credit for that performance but no need to bend the laws of biology just to try and one up him over fury
Joshua fought the more prepared /desperate Klitchko who also dedicated the fight to Wlad so Joshua in 18 fights not only came through he showed how great hes going to be....as a long time Klitchko fan he not only displayed the best boxing ive seen but did it with a better fighter and better skilled Joshua . Fury would not beat that Wlad!
Fury, he totally neutralized Wlad and won pretty much all rounds. Joshua almost got stopped and was on his way to losing the decision.
