Drew with novice light heavy Jimmy Ritchie 7-0-1 177lbs in 47.
And was ko'd in9 rds by light heavy Fitzie Fitzpatrick the same year.
Louis beat up the remnants of Savold in1951 Lyle would have a party with that version of Savold who was having his 2nd to last fight before being sloppily belted out by Marciano,where upon his licence was pulled for his own safety.
Savold lost 41 times and was stopped 12 times.

Elmer Ray is far better than Lyle.
Louis and Marciano were the only ones who knocked him out in spite of the fact that it was late in his career. Before the KO Loss to Louis he hadn't been knocked out in almost 5 years. Lyle isn't anywhere near that calibre.
Almost everybody that Lyle beat was washed. Bonavena, Peralta, Ellis, Mathis all washed.
He lives off the slugfest he had with post-RITJ Foreman, knocking out Shavers, being somewhat competitive with Clay and nothing else. He couldn't even beat Jimmy Young.
I never even said that Savold beats him. I think its a 50/50 fight. I don't think its any easy win for Lyle, Savold's experience would at least get him to the final bell.

 

How is it that so many of you know so much about Bob Pastor? I am surprised anyone mentioned him. I hadn't heard that name mentioned since the 1960s when one of the New York TV stations did a retrospective of Joe Louis's career.
