its the americans who hyped him up, nobody else. and to be honest, the guy could have been gary stretch and calzaghes performance still would have been mind blowing. i challenge any of the kiddies on here , the ones with the " calslappy" comments , the ones who take great delight in typing silly things like STFU, KTFO , LMAO and more to watch that fight and tell me calzaghe is shite.
Damn I hate all these Calzaghe worshippers who absolutely CLING to the whole Everyone Thought Lacy Was Going To Beat Calzaghe Beforehand (So for some STRANGE reason this makes Lacy a better scalp on Calzaghe's record atsch ) SO WHAT?! Is that the first time in history where a fighter didn't live up to a TENTH of the hype they were receiving? No, of course it isn't. The reason why so many people thought that Lacy would beat Calzaghe is simple - most people (outside UK) didn't really know Calzaghe and hadn't really seen many Calzaghe fights, while Lacy (with all his muscles and KO's) was getting hyped. Those who had seen Calzaghe and knew of him knew that he would win. Or at the VERY least that it was at least a 50/50 fight.
Lacy was a complete hype job and jermain taylor going to show this to everyone by completely outclassing him come november 15th.
All of you are so full of ****! I remember this forum 3 years ago. 90% of you said lacy was going to KO calzaghe and then tarver. You didn't say he was a 1 dimensional slugger w/ muscles. You said he was the next best thing. The boxing writers, the trainers, the so called knowledge couch potatoe, chips eating fans w/ 25% bodyfat. Don't let the newbie tag fool you. I've been on these forums for years. Boxrec's too. And almost everyone said lacy would whoop joe. So, now that you were wrong. Lacy is ****. can't throw a right hand or box a lick wasn't a good amatuer. Blah, blah, blah! Learn to eat crow. Racist assholes!
It wasnt just who he beat but he was KOing them in spectacular fashion. Some of those KOs were brutal.
If Jeff Lacy wasn't a very good boxer, he wouldn't have made the Olympic team. Calzaghe took his confidence...
