I just think he could have fought Cotto at that time-To say there was nothing there is not true-

COTTO HAD NOT SIGNED MOSLEY YET AND DISMANTLED JUDAH IN 9 I BELIEVE-

Floyd had not signed Hatton-Floyd and Cotto could have fought that December...I know Cotto was with T.Rank..but I followed the sport for years before that, and I just felt that the harder fight, with just as much money involved, was Cotto and not Ricky.:thumbsup

I'm a Floyd fan bro-I recognize REAL though-just saying Floyd shoulda/coulda fought Cotto-

He didn't duck Tony-Tony lost and wasn't really on any level-he wasn't really known to casual fans until Cotto 1...He was never a big name in 2006-to fight fans, yes-but Floyd was chasing Oscar and he told Tony to continue to win, which he didn't...Tony failed.

    and this:deal

    Good post-

TO THOSE WHO SAY WILLIAMS-PW DIDN'T HAVE THE NAME FELLAZ-GO CHECK THE DATES-PW WAS FIGHTING GUYS LIKE MITCHELL ON THE UNDERCARD OF FLOYD'S FIGHT WITH BALDOMIR-

PW WAS HOT AFTER HE BEAT TONY-BUT FLOYD HAD ALREADY BEEN LOOKING AT BIG MONEY FIGHTS-PW WASN'T A BIG MONEY FIGHT-

Then Floyd retired and PW got beat by Carlos Quintana-Paul was supposed to fight Cintron but Cintron pulled out with injury-this was Jan 2008 approx.

Margarito and Cotto can't realistically and objectively be called ducks because Mayweather offered Arum 8mil and 10mil guaranteed to fight both fighters and was turned down.

He offered Margo and Cotto fights twice and was turned down both times by Arum. Arum turned down a fight with Mayweather for Margo when he didn't want to make Margo available after putting him in a bs undercard and then the 8mil grantee offer(though i should say Arum actually accepted that part of the deal). Cotto claimed he wasn't ready at 140 and then Arum turned down a 10mil offer from Mayweather only offering 7mil guaranteed at 147.

Nobody blames Arum or Cotto or Margo for that but as soon as Mayweather retires he is the one ducking. Its proven your allowed to duck and turn down Mayweather by being to green, tooth aches, bs under cards, scared of needles. But as soon as you claim your ready if Mayweather doesn't jump at the chance to fight you he is ducking.

Judah was the biggest name in the division when he moved into the division. Hatton was a bigger fight than Cotto and Margarito when it was made

Baldomir was lineal and had better wins in Judah, Clottey and Gatti than anyone else at 147 even if he was a slightly easier option.

Mayweather doesn't usually fight high risk low reward fights but he does go for the biggest names, time and time again.

Mayweather offered Arum 10mil for Cotto which would have happen after May-Margo which was part of a 5 fight deal. He offered Arum these fights 2 days after Mayweather beat Judah. After Mayweather left Arum, Cotto no longer was an option unless he re-signed with TR for that fight and allowed Arum to be the sole promoter.

There is ducking and then careful fight management. After hatton at the end of 2007 floyd retired and the top guys in his weight class at the time were cotto, mosley, cheato and williams, all huge fights and at that point all were calling for fights with floyd, but he retired instead, is that ducking? Who else could get away with retiring at that point? Im amazed floyd doesnt take more flack for pulling that one actually.

Golden Boy could have inked Floyd for the fight with Cotto-I know it was easy for Hatton cuz he was part of Golden Boy-

GB made the fight with Mosley and Cotto. Floyd could have not fought Hatton and fought Cotto here instead-

The margarito one is the biggest joke. PBF left TR to fight DLH for 20+ million at 154 instead of facing margarito at 147 for 10 million

DLH was a better fighter than Margarito, the DLH that PBF fought who just KTFO of Mayorga would have easily stopped margarito. DLH never had a problem with a fighter he couldnt miss.

Mayweather would have fought De La Hoya in a rematch before he fought any of those guys reguardless if he didn't retire. The only one as appealing as Hoya was Cotto and that fight wasn't happening unless Mayweather went back to TR.

Personally I think the plan was for Cotto to get the fight with Hoya become a superstar and then fight Mayweather for 20mil a piece.

The retirement was real-Tony lost-he was out-PW had not made a name for himself and lost to Quintana-

Mosley coulda had the fight in 2006-he opted to not take it-He eventually got it, after knocking out the "best WW" in 2009-then he fought Floyd, when he was the #3 lb 4 lb in the world and #2 ranked WW:deal

I have given my take on Cotto-I have nothing to debate with you there.

FACT- THAT 38 YEAR OLD SHANE MOSLEY WAS RANKED #3 IN THE WORLD (RING/ESPN) AT THE TIME:deal

THAT 38 YEAR OLD SHANE MOSLEY WAS RANKED ABOVE ALL THE 28 YEAR OLDS AND 22 YEAR OLDS-

FACT-PEOPLE BITCHED N COMPLAINED THAT FLOYD WOULDN'T FIGHT SHANE AFTER MARQUEZ-

Please bring a less bias view:deal

    Margarito lost to PW.

PW was busy with Quintana and just starting to build a name after he beat on a loaded Margarito.

Shane got his AT HIS PEAK IN RECENT YEARS-WHEN HE WAS THE 2 RATED WW N 3 RATED IN THE WORLD.

The worst examples are Pacquiao, Tszyu and Margarito. No-one can even argue that Mayweather didn't shamefully duck all three.
