So you are risking losing to Mayweather while earning probably a couple million on a 70/30 split. That might be true, but let's not forget that there was alot of (fresh) bad blood between Mayweather and Top Rank at that time too. Arum was in full 'Mayweather Hate' Mode at the time.

Let's also not forget that the Arum Marketing Model (claim PBF is 'scared' and 'ducking' TR's in-house fighters), that was perfected with Pac, was in full effect for Cotto at the time.

TBH, considering how he's handled himself lately, I don't think we can honestly say Arum ever intended to put Cotto in the ring with Mayweather.

 

I can really only make a strong case for Cotto.

 

I alsways thought the ODLH fight for Cotto was Arum's ultimate goal too.

Williams got hi name after Tony-then he lost to Quintana when Floyd first retied-he was never in position to fight Floyd from a business standpoint.

 

Floyd fought his first welterweight fight in November 2005. He did not fight any of the below fighters (welters at some point during that period) until May 2010, nearly 5 years. Fake retired in 2008 at the divisions very peak.
