So, most people had written Algieri off after the pasting that Pacquaio gave him...but he proved a stern test for Khan tonight. My question is - was this down to Khan's defensive shortcomings, which were in evidence tonight...OR, was it down to a good gameplan executed well by the skillful but non-big-punching Algieri? I am admittedly a Khan fan, so it is hard for me to admit that, while I give credit to Algieri for a good performance, I think we learned more about Khan's natural inclinations and bad habits once again. It's a shame because I thought he looked truly great in the Alexander fight. He just struggles when people bring the heat - which the huge Algieri did tonight. Not taking anything away from Algieri though - would love to see him face the likes of Garcia, Crawford, and even Thurman in the future. I think he has a troublesome style which when coupled with his size can be effective for him - plus, he never seems ruffled (even when getting embarrassed by Pac).
We learned exactly what I've been screaming, that Virgil Hunter has not did anything to correct Khan. The first time he fights someone that is really coming to get him he is going to get Ko'd.
