The latter version of Hopkins would able to beat Roy imo. The earlier version didn't show the ring smarts to do it.

In the late 90s early 00s, I always wished he'd have faced Michalczewski, Jirov, or even Calzaghe.

If I had to put some money on it I would not bet against Jones in his prime either.

Foster, Spinks, Charles at light heavyweight and maybe SRR at middleweight didn't think anyone could beat him at 168lbs.

Spinks would definitely beat him. Spinks had the size, power, and speed to beat Roy,

If Roy ever gave anyone a rematch, I think both Toney and Hopkins could have beaten him. Both would adjust their gameplan, Toney would go in less cocky and Hopkins would be a little more "rough".

I also think DM would have stood a decent chance.

I wouldn't bet against him, but I wouldn't coun't these guys out either.

I dunno..........a prime jones would have been too fast for DM
you're gonna think I'm a lunatic for this but I think sven ottke could have stunk up a split one point deciosion from jones at 168

    God

and the thing that did beat him was father time ... now he realizes that he has enough skill to get him through a fight.

Both Hopkins or Toney fights weren't controversial or close. They were a UD, with a clear winner; that's why I believe he didn't give those a rematch. The only one that were controversial or close in his prime was against Montell Griffin, and that was mainly due to the DQ for hitting Montell while he was on a knee . My point being that in his prime, he would beat Toney and Hopkins again and again due to his speed and athletic advantage. The term "speed kills" applied to Roy literally. When he had the speed, he beat his opponents handidly; when he lost it, he got killed.

At 160, nobody. I would have given Carlos Monzon and Marvin Hagler the best chances. Monzon because of his right hand timing and ability to use his height to his advantage and Hagler because of his tenacity and right jab.

At 168, nobody. I thought Gerald McClellan and Nigel Benn would be the best choices if somebody were to beat him because of their power. Still, I thought Jones would have beaten them by wide decisions or late TKOs.

At 175, I favored Michael Spinks and Bob Foster over Jones. Especially Bob Foster, who I consider a stylistic nightmare to Jones. With his height, accuracy, speed, and timing, it's a good bet that he catches Jones. And his power would have put Jones to sleep.
